Spark aches.

He hated them.

When away from your bonded lover for too long, you'd gain spark aches.

Starscream whined, turning in bed. He was the grumpiest when it came to his spark aches. His very soul screaming at him that Skyfire was still awake, still out there, but he knew so much better.

He held his wings close to his frame as his spark screamed for his former mate's attention. He couldn't sleep for the life of him. He got a ping on his comm.

"Flight?"

It was from Megatron, and despite his feelings towards the warlord, he wished to take his mind off this pain so badly. He got up from bed, walked over to the door, and started to make his way down one of the long nemesis halls, answering curtly.

"Fine."

When he arrived to the flight deck, the warlord waited, hands behind his back. Starscream yawned dramatically and walked close. He was not excited to talk with Megatron, but it was better than acknowledging his body's pain.

"What has you up so late?"

"Just restless." He responded to the warlord. He didn't want to talk about himself at all, he knew Megatron held distaste for Starscream's past before the Decepticons. "You?"

"Restless." The silver gladiator reaponded.

"Well, we can't both use the same lie, my liege."

"We can do whatever I say we can. So suck it up."

"No thanks, don't think I will." Starscream responded, blowing a raspberry before walking off the nemesis, not waiting for Megatron as he embraced the air rushing past him as he fell.

It was only a few moments before fall and transformation, but he loved it. The small shriek of danger that climbed up his back before he saved himself with the scream of his engines.

Truly a gorgeous thing in theory.

As he started to soar the sky, Megatron came up by him. From there, it was nothing but a cruise; A joyride.

"Why did you invite me on a flight, mighty Megatron?"

"To talk." Megatron answered shortly. Most of his answers were quick, lacking his personality. Almost like he was nervous.

"Talk? Ha. What have I done now?"

"Genuinely, talk. Speak. Not an argument for once. Even if you do so love to create issues."

Create issues? Ha. Megatron did that plenty more than he did.

"Okay. What do you wish to speak on?"

"Anything."

"Okay." Starscream searched for the malice in the other's voice. There was none. "How was your day Megatron?"

"Fine enough." He responded evenly, "You?"

Starscream looped in the air beside him before answering. "Same old. Everything is boring and I lack things to do."

"You could definitely be working. You never actually work like you should."

Eh, Megatron was right, but Starscream wasn't about to disagree.

"Work? Ha! If I don't work I die, and if I do I live. It's like inflated capitalism. There's no real end goal."

"You don't have to be right all the time."

"What—"

Starscream's entire processor paused, and he didn't listen to Megatron respond.

Him? Right? What was Megatron getting at? This was crazy. This is a trick. He wouldn't shook his head and walked away if he could, but he played along for now.

"—know what. You're right, I am right all the time. You should know that. Keep that up."

He wasn't about to turn down compliments, even if they were fake.

"I will then." Megatron said.

Starscream couldn't continue, that was too unlike him, and his frame heated up.

"Thanks." He paused, "I'm getting tired. I'm going to return to my chambers." He said, hearing a small acknowledgement from Megatron before he dashed the other direction, not caring to hear the full sentence.
