Kusuo felt helpless. He was angry, he was scared. His family was dead holy shit-

The giant tried to shush, rocking his body from side to side. Harry's cries intensified, which doesn't help Kusuo's growing panic.

His face doesn't twitch when the tears start to flow, not even a change in his expression. The droplets just fall.

He doesn't think he can breathe, he doesn't think he can think, he is a child-

Water dropped on his face. The giant was crying. Why was he crying too?! Had no one taught this man how to care for a child?! Crying when a baby cries just encouraged them to cry more!

When Harry screams again Kusuo wants to scream right along with him. It was too loud, too loud, too loud.

He hates this, this body was not his. It should not have been his pain, not his panic, not his life, not his loss-

But! Yet!

Just as he is about to hit the giant with the full might of his phychic (powerful, godlike) rage he finds himself pulled away from him.

Warm, calloused, familiar  hands hold Kusuo closer. Tired dark eyes stare at him from up close, grief etched in every feature.

Sirius Black.

There he was in all his glory. Sleep deprived, full of loss, and looking at the twins as if they were the answer to life.

"Hush, Harry," the man said to his brother, hand on Harry's head as he nuzzled Kusuo's face. Shaggy black hair tickled his cheek. Kusuo wriggled his body, trying to look at his godfather.

When Kusuo reaches towards Harry, Sirius laughs, a sad, bitter thing, "What a terrifyingly protective little creature you are."

"I gotta take 'em to the their family," a voice- the giant- Hagrid he thinks the name was, now that he's thinking somewhat clearly- rumbled from behind. "Dumbledore's orders."

Sirius's hands tighten around Kusuo's infant body as he reaches desperately for Harry. Kusuo agreed, gently - or at least, as gently as he could- gripping long dark hair to protest going anywhere near that place.

The panic which had just calmed down bubbles up again. He won't let go.

He will not, he won't, won't-

A poke to his cheek.

(just like james, just like james)

He won't, he won't, he won't, hewon'thewon'thewon'thewon't-

Again.

His vision goes black.
