Sirius looked down at Felix. His godson had finally fallen asleep after crying himself sick. He handed the bundle of pale skin and red hair over to Hagrid carefully.

"Dumbledore, you said?" Sirius asked. His voice shook with suppressed grief.

"Yeah," Hagrid rasped, tucking the boys inside his coat. "Have to keep 'em safe."

"Huh," is all Sirius managed to say. He pulls at a strand of his hair, Felix's grip on it a shadow in his mind. A comfortable shadow. James and Lily are dead but their babies were alive. His godsons were alive.

"Where-?"

"Their aunt and uncle," Hagrid said, moving around the room as if searching for something. "Dumbledore said he would be safe there."

"Huh," Sirius said again. "Which aunt- oh."

Sirius supposed Frank and Alice could be considered as the twin's aunt and uncle as well. They were under the Fidelius too. And from the sound of it, Dumbledore knows where they are. Godric's Hollow might have been betrayed by Peter Pettigrew, that rat, but Augusta was strong and mentally flexible, she would have never betreyed her sons location. Speaking of Pettigrew-

That rat.

Sirius knew where Peter was. Or rather, he knew where Peter was supposed to be hiding.

If he wanted to catch Peter, he needed to hurry before that rat went underground. Who knew how many rats resided in London's sewers? And if Peter decided to hide in muggle London, then it would be even more difficult to track him down.

"Hagrid," Sirius said. Across the room, Hagrid finally pulled out a basket from the rubble and set baby Harry and Felix inside it.

"Hagrid."

"Yeh?" Hagrid asked, pulling up the baby blanket from under an armchair.

"Take my motorcycle," Sirius offered. "It can fly." Speed is of importance and who knows how long it will take Hagrid, who can neither apparate nor fit inside a normal floo to reach Frank and Alice's place. Better he fly there. On that note, Sirius wonders, how did Hagrid reach James' place so quickly? Even before himself?

"Thanks, Sirius," Hagrid smiled and Sirius shook that thought out of his mind. "How do ye use it?"

It took a while for Sirius to teach Hagrid how to fly his bike. Sirius cursed every minute and every second of that delay. But the twin's safety took priority and teaching Hagrid how to fly his damned flying motorcycle was important for their safety. Especially since it had an anti-falling feature charmed into the sidecar and Sirius didn't trust Hagrid's broken wand one bit to stop a sleeping baby's accidental fall from an unknown height.

(kusuo might have laughed at the thought had he been awake to hear it. as if he would let harry fall)

After what felt like forever, Sirius waves off a grinning Hagrid flying off into the skyline with his godsons. Then, he raised his wand to apparate to Peter's place. Peter wasn't there.

Sirius growled low in his throat, frustrated. Peter most likely escaped to muggle London. Tracking him down would take far too long.

He needed to take revenge, needed to kill the rat, needed to-

He needed to protect Harry and Felix. And James' pups —his pups now—would not be safe till Peter was killed.

"Expecto- Expecto-" Sirius tried brokenly. Memories refused to come to him, happy or otherwise. "Expecto-" Silver mist is all he got out of his wand.

Sirius took in a deep breath and decided to use a shortcut. He cast a cheering charm on himself. He didn't have time for his grief, not right now. Thoughts of James and Lily and the twin's first birthday are easier to come this time around.

"Expecto Patronum," Sirius cast, his thoughts holding onto the fleeting bits of happiness that he had.

So perhaps he should have been surprised when a fawn materializes instead of a dog, but in the moment he had one goal.

"Find Peter Pettigrew," he ordered. "Be visible all the time. Tell him Sirius Black will kill him."

The Patronus bowed and took off. Sirius summoned a broom- James's broom- and followed the streak of silver on the ground from the skies.

//
(Sirius's breath catches when he sees symbols for death and perfect balances for sacrifice hanging on the rubble left of the walls, carved onto the runes he'd helped Felix set up, and wonders just how long his nephew knew Voldemort was coming.)

(He will be vicious, the She hisses, Watch and Wait)

the gods flip a coin.

History changed and a new future was forged.

Harry Potter didn't stop crying when Hagrid smiled at him, and instead, Saiki Kusuo cried harder.

Sirius Black didn't meet Hagrid when he was leaving. Instead, he met the half-giant in the midst of the rubble of his best friend's house.

Harry Potter, in some alternate universe, had already fallen asleep by the time Sirius Black came around. Instead, Felix Potter —Saiki Kusuo— was wide awake and only stopped crying when his 'Uncle Pafoo' held him.

Sirius Black didn't go after Peter Pettigrew thinking himself unnecessary in Harry's life. This time, he knew the twins needed him in their lives and that going after Peter was not as much about vengeance as it was about protecting his godsons.

In another universe, Harry Potter grows up ignorant and unloved.

This universe isn't it.
