POV: Yeji
Well...this is it. I made it. I am in America with my best friend Ryujin leaving my whole life behind just to pursue my dream, and this program is a step closer to that dream. I am stepping off of the plane reflecting on my journey to get here and taking in the situation.
No POV
"Can you believe we're here," Ryujin said.
"I know I worked hard to be here but I can't believe this is actually happening." Yeji says slowly.
Yeji then looks around like a curious puppy points at every little shop they pass on the way.
"Well you need to snap into reality and lock in because we are in a new environment and I can't have you get kidnapped in the first 5 minutes of being here." Ryujin says sarcastically.
"Don't jinx me I don't wanna be kidnapped. But I guess you have a point...I better get to our destination before I freak out."
Yeji and Ryujin rush to baggage claim as they wanted so badly to see outside of the huge airport.
"We need one of those thingie thingies!" Yeji exclaimed.
"I know we've been friends for a long time but I do not understand what a thingie thing is." Ryujin responded looking at her friend like a little baby.
"Y'know those carts where we can put all of our 10 thousand suitcases."
"You mean a baggage cart?"
"Clearly." Yeji replies bitterly
Shortly after this exchange Yeji and Ryujin are on their way with their suitcases to exit the airport and look for their ride being provided by their host family.
"Are you yeji?" An older looking Korean man says.
"Yes. We are Yeji and Ryujin!" Yeji says with a big smile
"Umm... I didn't know we were getting two girls."The man replies confusingly.
A women hears the exchange and comes up to the three.
"That's because you are not." The woman says.
"Huh??!??" Yeji and Ryujin say in unison.
"I am taking Ryujin and this family is taking Yeji." The woman explains calmly.
Yeji's facial expressions shift quickly as she realises what is going on.
"ARE YOU FU-" Yeji is interrupted when Ryujin covers her mouth
"Listen I am so sorry if you young ladies thought that this program was going to have you both living in the same place, but truthfully this program wants you both to have two different experiences. I don't know if the both of you read the program in fine print because it did state that every individual will be living with a different host family, but will be attending the same school." The older man explains slowly.
"But...but...this must be a misunderstanding because I clearly asked multiple people if we could live together while staying here and they said sure but now it's no." Yeji says while frantically using hand gestures as she tries to hold back her anger.
"Well I am not sure about that whole situation, but I am sure you both will be perfectly fine if you're not living together." The man says.
"It might even be good for you." The women says with enthusiasm and cliche hand gesture.
Yeji curses under her breath.
"Yeah...ok...it's fine but unexpected. Can me and Ryujin have 5 minutes to talk. Just for a moment." Yeji says while still being dumbfounded by the situation.
