Jasmine's pov:
Holy shit, holy shit, holy shit, holy shit, holy shit, holy shit!!!!HOLY SHIT.
Todays Graduation. I'm graduating today. I'm officially done with high school. Now it's off to college. AHHHH!
I pace around my bedroom nervously. I didn't think time flew that fast. I mean I'm 18 now. Well, soon. Technically on the 28th I'm 18. But that's 2 days away.
I have to start getting ready right now. I have to. Graduation's in two hours. I have to get ready. "Jas!!! Do you need the hair dryer?" My mom asked. "YESSSSS!" I yelled. My head turned so fast my wet hair smacked me in the face. I took the hair dryer from her and started doing my hair.
Finally after one hour and a half—I'm finally ready. I'm wearing my floral mini dress that had ruffles. It was cute, it was white and pink. I met with Skylar, Kyle, Toni, James and Angelo downstairs. "Okay! Let's take pictures please!" My mom called. We all posed together. I was in between Skylar and Toni, Toni was next to Kyle, who was next to James, who was next to Angelo.
I felt Skylar's arm around my waist and I did the same. I laid my head on Toni's shoulder and smiled at the camera.
After an eternity of pictures we finally headed to the ceremony. It was a long drive to me. It seemed like it took forever. "Hey, you okay?" Skylar whispered to me. "Yeah...just nervous.." I said as we walked to the group of students that were taking their seats. "It's okay, it'll be great." She smiled. "TAKE YOUR SEATS!" A woman yelled. "Go sit down, see ya during the cap toss." Sky's smile was everything I needed to calm down. I gave her a kiss and went to hunt for my seat.
You can call me: Seat Hunter.
Nope stick to Jasmine.
I sat down and waited to be called. Me and Angelo sat next to one another because—well, we're siblings. "Kyle Adams!" We heard. We both cheered for him and he walked onto the stage and claimed his diploma with a huge smile. The principal kept calling names. My ears started working when I heard "Skylar Hart!"
I cheered loudly for her. Well, she's my girlfriend. Of course I would. As she walked on the stage we made eye contact. She gave me that amazing smirk and raised her brows. I giggled and she got her diploma, took a picture, and walked off the stage and to her seat. I zoned out again. Thinking about University.
What it would be like, how me and Skylar would function, our future outside of school....Scary.
"Angelo Ramirez!" The principal called. Jesus how long was I fantasizing about my future? I swear 5 seconds ago he was on H! I forgot my own thoughts and cheered loudly. I could hear my mom from the stands. She's too supportive. And I love it. Angelo finished the picture and it was back to name calling. But I didn't zone out.
The next name he called was mine. "Jasmine Ramirez!" His voice echoed in my ears. I stood up and walked up to the stage. I searched for Skylar and once I found her I felt all my nerves melt away. She was cheering loudly, she gave me a thumbs up and I laughed to myself.
"Congratulations, Jasmine."
"Thank you."
We took a picture and my Art teacher gave me a hug. "I'll miss you kiddo.." She whispered. "I'll miss you too.." I smiled. I walked off the stage and to my seat. And the names kept being called.
"Toni Sanchez!" Claps erupted.
"James Smith!" Claps once more.
The valedictorian speech was next.
"Hi, thank you, hello Knights! I am your valedictorian; Robert Hallows. And I want to say something that most people don't. High school are some of the most confusing years of our lives just smushed together. We are so confused because we are seeing new things in ourselves. It can be puberty, for others it can be feelings for the same gender, or maybe it can just be a new person in your life. But high school is most definitely not easy. All the people out there say 'Oh high school's easy wait until you get to college.' High school isn't easy. We went through so many changes in those years. Some of us grew facial hair, others actually grew to be tall, others now identify as a different gender or have partners the same gender as them—it doesn't matter. We went through changes that drove us crazy. Gave us bad attitudes. We're going to college, man. College. For some of you, it's not that big a deal, but for others—this is your chance to start anew. Why don't we leave all our shittyness in the past? In high school. Where it should stay. We're not dumb teenagers anymore—we're adults. In the real world. Let's stop bullying others, let's stop vaping behind the school building, let's stop acting like hormone crazy teenagers. Let's show the world who we Knights are. Because this school will always hold memories that we can't leave behind. This school is one of our homes. So what'd ya think Knights? Should we give the adult world a piece of us?"
