Buttercup had gotten into an argument with her sisters.
It was...bad, to say the least.
The sisters would bicker every now and then, but it never got this serious until it did. In the moment, Buttercup wasn't thinking straight. She said some pretty mean things and when Bubbles's eyes began to water, a single tear threatening to spill over, the Green Powerpuff knew she had royally messed up.
She fled before she could see it happen. Slamming the door to the house harshly behind her, drowning out Blossom's alarmed voice that frantically called after her, asking her where she was going.
The question was met with silence. Buttercup didn't quite know the answer herself. All she knew was that she had to get out of there. She needed to leave before her sharp tongue caused any more damage. Before Blossom could angrily tell her off for the words that cut deep and stung. Buttercup didn't want to hear it right now, not when their words chiseled at her broken exterior, crumbling into dust at her feet.
Coward, the voice in Buttercup's head spat. Selfish, it threw in just because it could.
Buttercup: Shut up.
She growled into the air.
The summer chill blew into her face. The wind was cold and unforgiving and it almost made Buttercup regret ever leaving the warmth of her home in the first place. She forced herself forward instead, allowing the cold air to settle along her rosing cheeks.
The frigid air was quite literally making her teeth chatter. And the smell of rain hung in the air. Crap, she really should have grabbed a jacket.
Power Up!!
Before she knew it, Buttercup was hovering outside of a particular boy's window. Two feet plant onto the roof and she hesitates for a second. The beginning of a downfall was all the extra push Buttercup needed to knock.
Luckily, you has your blinds up so the moment of confusion around what hit your window was dropped the second your eyes fall upon the girl huddled outside.
Y/N: Jesus.
You exhaled, the lock to the window giving way not a second too late. The window was pushed up and Buttercup wasted no time throwing one leg over to enter the contrastingly warm bedroom.
Y/N: Y'know we have a front door, right?
Buttercup stayed uncharacteristically quiet. There's no snarky rebuttal. Not even a single peep of sarcasm to be found. This pulls a set of dark, expressive eyebrows to knit together.
Y/N: Buttercup...?
The solemn expression finally drew upon you as Buttercup cornered herself in the bedroom, arms wrapped tightly around her torso. She was wearing too little clothes for the weather you were experiencing outside and even with a clamped jaw, the distinct sound of chattering teeth filled the room. Whether it was from the cold weather or the inner distress she was feeling, you no doubt understood that something was terribly off.
Buttercup was avidly avoiding your gaze. She sniffled, the back of her right hand coming to rub angrily at her nose and her frost-bitten cheeks. Each tell-tale sign felt ever so betraying, especially when you cussed a gentle whisper under your breath.
Buttercup was expecting you to poke and prod at her. To pry for some sort of explanation as to why Buttercup had shown up to your place on this gloomy, Sunday evening like a total nutjob who didn't understand the concept of using a front door and....
