The night came and went, Visenya couldn't find sleep so she stayed up reading about Aegon's conquest in her Father's old history books. The next morning however she felt alive and decided to visit Vermithor after breaking her fast.
She would take the Bronze Fury out to ride two or three times a week normally but because of all the recent events she found that she had abandoned her dragon.
As soon as he took sight of Visenya's figure he began roaring excitedly, it had been over a week he'd since been stuck in the dragon pit.
Visenya patted him "Calm down, Vermithor. You'll wake the other dragons" as she mounted him. She finally felt as if she could breath when she was up in the air flying above King's Landing. She could let all of her worries go and clear her mind. Part of the reason why she had been reading the previous night was so that she didn't think of Daemon and it had worked, she didn't once get distracted whilst reading so she thought she'd continue her current strategy of avoidance.
As she soared above the city amongst the clouds she looked down at the small folk and their small figures. At times she wished she could trade her life for theirs, a much simpler existence it would be.
"Dracarys, Vermithor" She shouted as Vermithor blew a circle of fire which she flew through. She wished she had some company but she was all alone in life now, Rhaenyra had become a mother so her priorities lay elsewhere and Daemon's presence was so inconsistent and bewildering that she didn't know if she even wanted it anymore.
Mayhaps he was only trying to get a reaction out of her the previous night, Visenya was angry at him for spurring her on like that in public but her cheeks turned a deep scarlet at the thought of him doing it again. After an hour on dragon back she decided to return to the dragon pit but as she dismounted Vermithor she lost her footing and twisted her ankle on the hard pavement.
"Ahh fuck" She called out cursing whatever gods were listening. She managed to limp back to the castle with the help of one of the maids but as soon as her father, whom she was trying to ignore saw her, called after her she was forced to stop in her tracks.
"Visenya, what happened? Are you injured?" King Viserys asked stalking towards her.
"No, I'm fine. I just tripped is all —" Visenya wasn't able to even finish her sentence.
"Maids, send for the maester at once and help the Princess to her chambers" Viserys ordered sternly.
"But Father, it's nothing" Visenya tried to no avail.
"The maester will treat you, Visenya. You need to rest now." Viserys said as he led her towards the maids.
Visenya stumbled but the maids grabbed her arms just in time as they began to lead her up to her chambers.
"Really, I'm fine." Visenya started earning looks from the women.
As soon as they reached her rooms she collapsed onto her bed and called for no disruptions but the maester for the rest of the day.
However as soon as she heard the maester arrive she could feel her blood boiling, she just wanted to be left alone. How hard was that?
"Princess, let me look at your ankle." He instructed lifting her gown slightly.
Visenya's eyes widened as she noticed the blood covering her ankle. It was much worse than she had anticipated.
"I will need to apply pressure and cover the wound, Princess. This may hurt a bit." The maester said as he covered her ankle in cloth.
Visenya tried not to squirm as she reached for the milk of the poppy that the maester had deposited on her nightstand.
"Do not take too much of that, Princess. It has... unwanted effects." The maester instructed eyeing her worryingly.
"Of course." She responded as he left her chambers.
Finally Visenya was able to rest with her pain slightly numbed for a few hours until she heard further knocks on her door.
"Who is it?"
"Daemon, my princess." The voice responded. She could recognise his voice anywhere, it was so deep and full of charm, unlike anyone else she knew.
"Come in."
She looked away as Daemon walked towards her in bed. She was in too much pain to even think about how she looked sprawled out with her messy hair half covering her face.
"I heard that you were injured, Princess." Daemon said. His voice almost sounded like a song she thought, it was always so smooth.
Visenya shook her head, "It's nothing. I don't know why Father is fussing so much over it".
"It is only normal, you're a Princess." Daemon stated smirking as he dragged up a chair next to her.
"I don't want to be fussed over." She tried to seem more mature, older and serious but she was afraid he still thought of her as a little girl, always complaining and causing trouble.
"I think you do want attention though." He rebutted taking in her appearance as she lay in bed.
"If I wanted attention then I would've entertained your behaviours last night." Visenya snapped looking at him for the first time that day in the eyes.
Damon chuckled, "You did entertain them though, if I do remember correctly you were moaning under my fingers and —" Suddenly the door open causing both Daemon and Visenya's eyes to shoot towards the door.
It was her Father and Alicent, Viserys looked shocked to find Daemon there already but smiled and asked "How is our little warrior faring?"
"She still has her whits about her." Daemon stated causing Visenya to shoot him a glance.
"I'm fine, Father. I do not care to be fussed about. The maester has healed me."
Viserys laughed "Healed you? Already? My, this must be the god's work."
Visenya gave him an annoyed look and decided to change the subject.
"How is my nephew?"
"He is doing just fine, never you worry about that. He's got the makings of a soldier."
"Isn't it a bit earlier to tell?" Visenya rebutted.
Viserys laughed, "Course not, well we will let you get some rest. Call for me if you need anything." And with that he and Alicent left her chambers.
Visenya watched them walk out as Daemon looked over at her, "Seeing that the maester isn't here I guess I should be his fill in, Princess. Is there anything you should need?" Daemon said with a smirk. She could tell he was jesting so she took it upon herself to do him one better.
"I am quite cold at present, some warmth would be greatly appreciated." Visenya batted her eyelashes at him and rolled over on her bed leaving one half of it free.
Daemon studied her and understood what she wanted as he walked around her bed, "I suppose I can help you there, Princess." He climbed in next to her pulling the sheet over them.
It was getting dark outside and Visenya was feeling bold, she shifted closer to him dissolving the gap between them and nested her head on his arm.
"Is that better, Princess?" Daemon murmured, he was so close to her that she thought he would feel her heart beating rapidly. Their bodies were almost pressed together and their faces were almost touching as Visenya looked up at her Uncle.
"Yes, I am much warmer now." She let her eyes close and drifted off to sleep with Daemon watching her.
