🦝 Shivin's pov:
White roses decked with shimmery decorations beautified the Ahuja's mansion. Their son was getting engaged, they can’t let this chance slide. Mrs. Ahuja along with other ladies with the help of the best decor planners have made the affair in such fashion that it would remain as the talk of the town.
Donning an argent coloured sherwani, Shivin descended downstairs while fixing his watch to witness the shining face and childlike smile of her mother.
If getting engaged can make my mom this happy, what would happen when I get married after 2 days? Yes, since she doesn’t trust me with delaying the marriage as I would spoil her plan by scaring the girl away. Haha!
My father asks me to get on the stage and take the seat to which the Pandit starts the ceremony.
OH! It’s time to bring the girl, go Reetu and Shravya bring Shona beta down exclaimed my mother while fixing a broach near my sherwani pocket.
Shona! Shona ho ya chandi ho, I would surely show her way to the blacksmith. Just wait dear darling girl.
I was pulled out of my thoughts by jingling noise of anklets and to be honest I was awestruck. Walking in a speed that would put any tortoise into shame adorned in a pink lehenga with a veil on, my fiancé reached till the stage only to get her hands engulfed in her father’s, who with a gaze of adore brought her next to me and made her sit on the plush velvet sofa. I was unable to look at her face due to the veil but the smell of lavender invaded my nostrils. She sat quietly while maintaining a good distance from me. Hmm. Good girl.
Bring the ring ! The auspicious time for ring exchange has began said Pandit ji to which my mom hummed and brought the big platter decorated with rose petals holding 2 diamond rings.
I make her wear the ring that was reciprocated by her followed by claps of the guests and our family members.
I found some of my cousins taking Shona back upstairs. A waiter with a big plate piled with all varieties of food followed them. Ohoo, my little girl is hungry.
According to the rituals, only after the completion of ring ceremony the soon to be bride and groom can consume food. I depart to my own room after instructing a waiter to bring food for me. It would be an understatement if I say I’m hungry because I’m famished. Cousins accompanied with relatives tried to congratulate me on my way back while I swiftly marched by ignoring their wishes with frequent nods. I am a man of few words and speak only when it’s necessary. Opening the door to my walk-in closet followed by changing into a formal wear, I fold my cuffs and found the waiter with my breakfast.
Continuous meeting since 8:00 am with the new investors along with this engagement has left me with a hungry stomach. The waiter congratulates me after setting up the table and finds exit. Mouth watering Dal fry, Fried Rice and Matar Paneer along with mix smoothie. Hmm.
