" -it's not like that! Trust me, why don't you understand?! I-" Oh how things had ended up this way.

Staying away from Fourth for the whole day at school was something Gemini definitely wasn't used to. That's why, the moment that last bell rang, he rushed to Fourth's side, nudging him to go back together. It was normal for Fourth, walking together to school and back home as well. They basically grew up alongside each other after all.

"Hey Fourth, help me with the Geography assignments today," said Gem as they strolled back home.
"Huh-? Why'd you need MY help?? Did you miss something??" He couldn't get it. Gem was not a weak student. If not a 'straight As' one, he was definitely above the average. Mediocre assignments like these shouldn't be a problem at all. Did he miss a few notes??

"Nah- I didn't exactly miss anything. It's just that there are a few concepts I kinda need help grasping-" He was interrupted by Fourth's laughter.
"Just what are you saying?! All we did today in Geo was maps- there's no concept to understand."

Gemini was irritated.
"Can't he just go back to my place?? Does he hate being with me that much-??Why's he questioning me so much!" He thought to himself.

Looking at Gem's monotone expression, Fourth sighed.
"Alright alright, I'll help you out. Happy ??" He said, rubbing the back of Gem's neck gently with a smile.
His face instantly lit up with a grin, earning a chuckle from Fourth.

Fourth couldn't help but shake his head in disbelief. They've been together for so many years and still he can't seem to understand what goes on in his best friend's head.

They reached their homes in another 10 minutes and soon were in Gemini's room- clothes changed to casual ones, Geography books, maps, pencils and other stationery out. "So what is it that you need my help with-??"
"Ummm- here-" Gem answered pointing to the names of a few water channels and islands, "-How do I learn these??"
Gemini obviously knew how to. He was just making things up. And Fourth was aware of it.

An hour passed by, Gemini fooling around and not really paying attention to Fourth's explanation until Fourth really couldn't take it anymore.

He put the pencil down with a sigh,"Alright Gem, tell me what's wrong."

"Huh-? What do you mean??" Gem really didn't know.

"What do you mean 'huh??' I've been trying to explain this to you for more than an hour and you just keep giving me blank stares! The moment I try to leave, you ask me to explain a 'concept' but then you don't even pay attention!!" All that hard work going to waste, anyone would be furious.

"I-"

"No wait Gem. Don't make any excuses. Tell me the truth or I'm leaving-"

"Do you hate being with me that much?!?!"
Fourth was taken aback by Gemini's sudden outburst.

"Huh-??" It was his time to act stupid now.

"You're always like this these days! We're- we're-"

"Wait Gem, what are you talking about?!?!" Fourth said, holding onto his arms.

"We're never together!!" He had started to calm down, "Even at school- ever since my seat changed, we barely get to talk at school and now that we get to hang out, you just wanna go home!!"

"Do you- do you not want to be with me now...?" He asked a confused Fourth, his voice cracking towards the end.

Gemini looked up at Fourth and examined his face. Looking at the frown on his face, he continued, " Do you know how it was for me at school?? How weird it felt to not see your face beside me during the classes-?? And whenever I looked at you- you seemed just fine! Like you didn't care at all! It's almost as if it was so normal for you, staying apart all the time-"
