Aradhaya Singh Rajvansh

"Do you like Chauhan?" His words made my eyes widen, and I tried to cover up as soon as possible, "No bhai, I don't. How did this bizarre thought cross your mind anyway?" His eyebrows scrunched but relaxed in a second.

"It's good if you don't. I mean, I don't know what I was thinking anyway." He patted my head as he rose from his seat. I arched my brow, trying to figure out where he was heading. "I'll bring you something to eat." He smiled at me, making me flash my brightest smile at him.

My brother is not someone who would object if I liked someone, but he would make the man object to everything that might hurt or bother me even an inch. And this man, Rudransh Singh Chauhan, had gone too outrageous for my brother to even think that there was something going on between us. Rudransh Singh Chauhan has been breaking odds since the very day we met. Among the crowd of hundreds, this man's onyx eyes managed to meet mine on stage seven years ago, and somehow those eyes still have their way toward me, just like now, fixed on me since the moment he entered the hall. He has been doing everything he shouldn't, talking to me, getting into my vicinity, or trying to fill stupid ideas in my brother's mind.

I wish I could scratch his face and pull those eyes out of their sockets that are still focused on me. I hate this man for real. What the hell does he think of himself anyway? He cannot disrespect me this way. When I asked him to stay away, why in hell is he fetching reasons to be closer to me, be it the dance last night or today? How can he come and talk all sweet and loving as if he loves me and all he says is genuine and not just build-up lies like he did years back?

"I think it's the opposite. That Chauhan likes you." My throat went dry at my brother's words, making me snap my neck in his direction. I saw his confused face. "Huh?"

"Yeah, I mean he is always around you, looking for reasons or chances to talk to you. Anyway, he is a good, reputed man, but still, if he tries something he should not, then don't think for a second before telling me." I bobbed my head, gulping down the saliva that pained my throat. "It's nothing like that, Bhai, you relax. The paneer looks fascinating." I parted my lips as he chuckled at my excitement for food, making a morsel.

After being away from home for all these years, I have grown to respect and love my regional food more and more. Even though for the first three years, Papa tried to cook as much as possible, we lacked time and proper ingredients there. So now, I try my best to feed myself as much Indian food as I can.

"Here." He fed me a morsel, and before I could let the flavours melt in my mouth and devour the delicious dish, the dish just hit my senses, making my throat choke. It was a tingling and pinching sensation that ran from my tongue to my throat. I tried to gulp the food, but it started burning more. I coughed as breathing became difficult, so I coughed louder.

My brother's eyes widened in panic. "Aru! Are you okay?" He quickly grabbed the glass of water on the table and handed it to me. I took it and tried to drink, but before I could, Rudransh was there in a flash beside me, taking the glass from my hand, his face etched with concern.
