EYES CLOSED

THE MIST OF the lake made the already cold wind unbearable. She was paired with Maki on this mission, which she was quite thankful for. She was an adept fighter and just seemed to understand (y/n). The girl would be lying if she said she wasn't somewhat excited. It wasn't often she got girl time, even if exorcising a curse was involved. Her (e/c) twinkled at the thought, perhaps becoming true friends with Maki made (y/n) ecstatic.

"Hey (y/n) I think its best we stop here for the night, the curse probably hasn't gotten much farther than the local area."

The tall deep green haired women bends down, and begins unpacking her bag. She carried the tent and sleep bag, I managed with the food and first aid. We were alone our here, in the middle of the woods at the north end of mount fuji, nothing around for miles. The only real civilization on the north side of the mountain, they had chased the curse far but not far enough.

"Okay sounds good!"

Following her lead she started unpacking as well, starting the fire and making their dinner. Maki was quick with the tent, it was a two man thankfully. It would be unfortunate if they both had to carry a tent.

(Y/n) watched her silently work, admiring her hard work and determination. (Y/n) always felt proud to have Maki on the team but didn't know how to express that. In fact when had first met Maki, (y/n) was a bit jealous. She had what the (l/n) member wanted so dearly, she was normal. She couldn't see curses normally and didn't possess cursed energy.

To be normal, its all (y/n) ever wanted.

Yet it wasn't up to her, she just had to play the cards she was dealt. The smell of something burning brought the sorcerer back into focus, panicking at the sight of their dinner sausages abaze.

"Shit shit shit, fuck!"

Blowing on it, the meat looked mostly salvageable. She paled at this intense aura over her shoulder.

"(Y/n)! You burnt our food!"

The (h/c) haired girl bowed her head and prayed to whatever gods may be.

"Im so so sorry Maki! I swear it was an accident!"

The green haired just sighed and held her nose.

"Its... fine. Lets just eat and go to bed, we gotta catch the curse by surprise tomorrow morning."

Project make a new friend: failed.

"Yeah okay..."

They both sat on a log, close to the impromptu firepit (y/n) made. They sat in silence for a moment before Maki spoke up.

"Has something been happening to you recently? I've noticed you're changing, acting a little different."

"Uhh..."

(Y/n) wasn't sure how to respond, when in fact there was something going on in her life. A very big something.

"Well actually yes, something is going on..."
