Pearl is flicked in the head with a pencil. It lands on her desk with a soft thud as she winces and turns to face the perpetrator. Her eyes narrow at her friend, who only meant to be helpful. Rosa begins mouthing some incoherent babble from across the room. It's entirely foreign to Pearl, who squints as she does her absolute best to read the lips.

𝙳𝚊𝚢𝚍𝚛𝚎𝚊𝚖𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚊𝚐𝚊𝚒𝚗. 𝙼𝚢 𝚋𝚊𝚍.

Pearl huffs as she turns her attention back to the lecture taking place. It's nearly boring her to death. The professor is repeating his previous lesson from last week, word for word. Pearl picks up the pencil and begins fiddling with it, switching from her right hand to her left.

Another pencil is thrown at her head, and once more Pearl doesn't catch it. She winces and looks over to her friend with wide, angry eyes. She mouths incoherent babble as well, and this time Rosa is the one who is confused. Pearl just rolls her eyes and pulls out her phone.

[ what the hell do you want? ]

[ look down ]

[ ahorita ]

Pearl follows Rosa's gaze and sees bits of black and neon pink sticking out from under her zip-up hoodie. In a flash, Pearl zips it up all the way and prays that nobody saw.

" And that's time. Practice test tomorrow, real test on Friday."

The room is quickly emptied as all the students rush out to spread like vermin around the bright and vibrant college campus.

" Yo, yo, yo, yo, yo. Slow down!" Rosa shouts as she races to catch up, " Jeez, stop running away from me."

" I can't be running away from you if I'm walking at a leisurely pace," Pearl snidely quips as she carries her notebook with one hand.
