Promises

Chapter 4

A few weeks went by. And it was the day of Reign and Keyon's anniversary. Reign asked Baylor and Caleb to help her with making the dinner plans for their anniversary date. Caleb had a nice backyard , so they all helped set up for their romantic night. "What's this appetizer you made?",Baylor asked while looking in the oven.
"It's a toasted loaded veggie toast with my grandma special sauce on top.", Reign answered.
"What about dessert?", Caleb asked
"I'm dessert.",Reign replied
"Ima tell yo mommy.", Baylor said
"I'm kidding but it's a brownie and vanilla ice cream. I'm surprised you didn't see me bring it in." , Reign said
"Yeah cause nobody will be getting down and dirty in here but me!",Caleb said
"Man please you don't even have no game to be getting no female. You been in the friend zone with Kelsi since freshman year.",Baylor said
"I'm not focus on that right now anyway. I'm just trying to graduate.", Caleb said
Reign giggled and handed Baylor the glasses she wanted to use tonight.
Baylor looked at the clock and realized he had to go get Keyon and blindfold him to bring him to his surprise anniversary dinner. "I got the living room all set up for yall movie night." Caleb said
Reign was excited to see Keyon reaction and started to pace around the living room. She was moving things in the living room that were perfectly fine already. Baylor hurried out the door to get Keyon.
" When are you going to ask out Kelsi?"Reign asked.
" I'm not trying to mess up our friendship. Besides, I was honest about focusing on school. My grades haven't been that great this year. I don't know what it is."Caleb answered
"Have you tried to get a tutor?"Reign asked
"Nope, and I don't want one either. This internship will help a lot, though."Caleb answered
" It will all work out."Reign said
"Thanks, plus I'm not ready for that type of commitment. You all make it look easy because yall are great with each other. That isn't the case for everyone, though."Caleb said
"You are overthinking it. If you have a negative outlook on it, then it won't go well."Reign said
Caleb saw Baylor's car pulling into the driveway. "They are here."Caleb said. He went into the kitchen to grab the appetizer to take it to the table. Reign went to stand by the table to wait for Keyon. As Keyon walked out the back door, he said , " I smell food." Reign tried not to giggle as he reached his hand out and grabbed the air. She walked up to him and took the blindfold off gently.
Keyon's eyes lit up as he looked around at the romantic setup. He immediately hugged Reign and kissed her on her forehead. "Baby, this is very sweet."Keyon said. " I'll go get her gift out of the car for you before Caleb and I head out."Baylor said.
" I have your gift right here." Reign said, handing Keyon a black bag.
When he took it out of her hand, he could feel a little weight to it. He tried to guess what it was while he put it down next to his chair. "Thank you. I'll open it after we finish dinner."Keyon said.
Baylor bought Reign's gift in and handled it to her. It was a small pink bag with gray sparkles all around it. She smiled and put it to the side.
" It's such a beautiful night."Reign said, looking at the stars.
" Every night is beautiful with you, Reign."Keyon said
Reign reached her hand across the table, and Keyon placed his hand into hers. He looked her in the eyes and said , " I want you to open your gift now." Reign reached inside her bag and pulled out the small box. As she was about to open it, Keyon got on one knee. Reign starts to cry and shake from nervousness as she gets up. Keyon takes the box and opens it, and pulls out the ring. " Reign, I knew the first day I saw you that I wanted you to be my wife. I know we haven't graduated yet, but I couldn't wait any longer to have this moment with you. Can you please say yes to being my future wife?"Keyon said. Reign could barely open her mouth as she stood there looking at Keyon's eyes, beginning to water. "Yes, Keyon, I would love to be your wife."Reign said.
Keyon starts to cry as she pulls him up. They both hug each other, and Reign grabs his gift and hands it to him. " My gift isn't better than yours, but it's special to me."Reign said. He opens the bag and sees a picture frame with the first picture they took together inside. Also, in the bag, it was a chain that had a charm with the initial "R" on it. "I'll wear it every day. I love this picture of us. Thank you, baby, " Keyon said.
