Promises

Chapter 5

Baylor moved into his apartment a few weeks before he planned to. He told Layla the news, and she decided to fly there early. He only had a few days to organize everything before Layla flew in. Thankfully, he had the guys' help, which made it least stressful for him.
Today was the day for Layla to arrived and Baylor was stoked to start and end his day with the love of his life. Layla decided that she would attend classes online in the fall. She made that choice because she wanted a part-time job to help Baylor with bills. Baylor told her that he didn't want her to worry about bills, but she still wanted to contribute. "When does she land?Keyon asked.
" At 2 p.m., but I'll head there in a few."Baylor replied.
" Our summer is about to be lit!"Baylor asked.
" Yep, we should plan a group trip before summer break is over. I could use a break from work, too. They have been working me super hard lately."Keyon said.
" I feel you on that, and I'm going to take extra hours for the summer. I want to make sure I get these bills paid."Baylor said.
" Facts well, let me head out. Be safe."Keyon said.
As Baylor approached the airport, his phone rang. It was his father calling him. He assumed it was to remind him to arrive at the airport early just in case her flight landed early. " Wassup, dad."Baylor said.
" Hey, son Layla just landed she called her dad a few minutes ago. Are you there yet?' " His dad said
" Yes, dad, I'm pulling in now, and she's calling me now."Baylor said.
His dad hung up, and Baylor quickly answered Layla's phone call.
" Baylor, where are you?"Layla asked.
" Traffic was bad, but I'm here. I'm pulling around now. You should see me in a few seconds."Baylor answered.
" I see you."Layla said, waving her hand.
Layla jumped into Baylor's arms as he stepped out of the car. " I'm so excited!"Layla said. Baylor put her bags in the back seat and opened the car door for her.
As they walked through the front door of their home , Layla saw a bouquet of yellow roses and a big pink bear on the counter. " Thank you Baylor this is so thoughtful."Layla said.
She kissed him and pushed him on the couch. Baylor laid back as she got on top of him. " I love you."Layla said as she french kissed Baylor. " I love you too."Baylor said in between the kisses.
Cassie sat on the bleachers, waiting for Skyler to finish his workout. She wanted to apologize for her mood swings during homecoming. A few girls flirted with him throughout the night. Instead of telling him how she felt , she just separated herself for the remainder of the night. Emily was there to comfort her like she usually does. They were very close, like sisters. Skyler was speedy coming from the gym looking at his watch. He took his headphones off and shoved them in his workout bag. As he looked up, he heard a familiar voice. He realized it was Cassie yelling his name. " Hey baby, what's up."Skyler said with a face of uncertainty. He felt the tension as she walked down the bleachers. " I'm sorry for being moody during homecoming. I guess it's finally settling in that you're one of the star athletes now. You put so much work in. I see now that all the females want your attention, including me. I hate feeling like I'm fighting for a spot."Cassie said.
" And I understand where you are coming from. I apologize if I made you feel insecure. You're not fighting for a spot. I have been focused, and I guess a little neglectful of your feelings. I'm sorry, Cassie. "Skyler said. 🫂
