Chapter 9: Lets Go On An Adventure!

Chapter 9: Make Yourself At Home

Nora's POV

I remember counting...backwards, from 100. Then I just woke up. I can't recall every going asleep though? The drugs must've kicked in. I looked at the clock beside my bed. 11:27 am. I felt on top of my head for the stitches. Yup they sewed my head back together. The rest of the day played out how you would imagine. Lynn came at 12, i rested till 5, and we went home and ate supper. Lynn cooked steak, which i thought was totally unnecessary, but it was good none the less. Then we slept.

*poke*....*poke poke*

I opened one sleepy eye to see Amber poking my cheek.

"What are you doing here?" I asked

"Well I need your breeze to spread my forest fire today..." she replied

*sigh*

"Alright let me get dressed."

I got off the bottom bunk. Lynn was still sleeping. As i was walking out the room, she added,

"...and i was hoping you'd help me and Terrance sighed up for school here?"

Her, and Terrance, school here! What!?!?? No! I don't want Terrance at the same school as me, and i am sure Lynn would feel the same way! Yes! I'll decline. A dazed Lynn sat up in bed and said,

"Yeah sure, I'll get Terrance figured out while you two are gone, then he can just help you so I don't have too."

Oh no, here they go again...

"Yeah well at least I don't get my butt wooped so bad I have to go to the hospital!"

"I didn't go to the hospital! Nora did!"

"You still went inside the hospital!"

"Yeah! But i didn't receive treatment!!!"

"Well Blah blah blah blah."

"What's all the blah suppose to mean?!?!"

"Wow you really are stupid! I am doing an impersonation of you arguing with me!"

"Oh is that so! Well i guess you can just go then since you are so cocky and childish you have to win this stupid fight!"

"I am not..!!! No i will not leave because this is a serious matter in which we need to fix."

"Stop trying to sound smart dammit!!!"

"You're so cute when your mad, baby brother."

This went on for a good hour while I got myself ready for the day. When I finished I grabbed Ambers arm and dragged her out of the door.

"Well you're a fat-!! Hey! Nora! Let me go i am not done yet!!"

"Oh, yes you are. We're going"

We walked down the bustling street. Amber was in front of me, weaving through the crowd. I followed in pursuit. She stopped in front of a small cafe window. I felt a hand on my arm and I was pulled into the building.

"Woo! That was some tight space. I thought we could stop for a break?" Amber asked

"Yeah sure." I replied

We got a table for two and sat down. A man was playing a piano in the corner, with an up-beat melody. I stared out the window into the busy street, watching people of all shapes and sizes walk past. A waitress in a white apron came up to us with a note pad and pen and asked us if we wanted any drinks. Amber asked for a coffee, two creams. I asked for earl grey tea with honey. It didn't take long for our drinks too come. The waitress asked us if we were ready to order, but Amber politely told her we were just having a drink. Amber put her creams into her coffee and gave it a stir.

"Hows school?" she asked

"Alright i guess." I replied

"Alright?"

"Yeah, nothing good, but nothing bad either."

We both took a sip from our drinks.

"How about you? I heard you and Terrance have been bored, with no school or jobs."

"Yeah, that's why we decided to go to your guy's school."

We continued talking like this till we were done our drinks. When I looked outside, it was pouring rain. We both agreed it was time to get going, and maybe a hotel would be a good idea. Since we couldn't travel back from the forest fire area in the rain, and by the time it led up, it would be too dark. Despite it raining we didn't get wet, everyone on the street had umbrellas and they were so close to each other that it was like a canopy over the side walk. We bought a one bed bedroom since it was cheaper than a two bed bedroom. We snuck into the bed and watched cartoons for the rest of the afternoon. When we decided to sleep it was still raining, not as hard at least. When we woke up we continued home.
