"Mom was, well, designed to be a caretaker, but she was also supposed to protect us."

"What does that mean?"

"She was supposed to intervene if someone was in danger."

We all stared at Vanya as if spellbound. Luther and Allison, thrilled by the morning's discovery, called a family meeting. Five did not return to the Academy with us. In a way, it made me happy, because I didn't feel like talking to him. What bothered me, however, was the fact that Five said the world ends in 8 days. And we still haven't figured out anything.

It may've been a rather bad idea, but I've decided not to tell any of my siblings about the incoming catastrophe. I was worried that I may have misunderstood something Five told me and the prospect of explaining everything to the others was not so very pleasant. Because what if I mess something up?

Five will come home soon enough and familiarise them with the topic himself. Because it ain't my fucking job.

Diego, his hands clenched into fists, stared straight into the eyes of Luther towering above him. They had almost fought again a moment ago, which was not a new thing at all. Allison leaned her shoulder against one of the pillars in the living room. I don't know why she annoyed me so much just by being there. I've never been much of a fan of her, but after just one day, I could say with confidence that she was far worse as an adult.

Luther sighed and looked over all of us. I stood away from him, close to Klaus. It was with him that I felt the safest at that moment.

"Well, if her hardware is degrading, then uh..." Luther began, in a serious tone, "We need to turn her off."

Diego raised his hand, in which he held one of his throwing knives.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, wait!" He shouted, taking a step closer to our brother. "She is not just a vacuum cleaner you can throw in the closet! She feels things, I saw it!"

I crossed my arms over my chest.

"Diego's right, Luther," I said with a frown. "We can't just turn Mom off like that."

"She just stood there, (Y/N), and watched our father die!" The man exclaimed, pointing to the TV behind the bar.

"Think about the consequences."

"The only consequences I see is the lack of them," Allison interjected, and I gave her a contemptuous look. She ignored my expression and continued, "I'm with Luther."

"Wow, that's a new one," I snickered.

"Surprise, surprise," Diego murmured.

Allison muttered a soft 'Shut up' under her breath. The eyes of my sister and two brothers rested on Vanya and me.

"And you?" Allison asked. "You haven't specified your side."

"Oh, I think I actually did and uh quite visibly I'd say" I nodded my head in Diego's direction. My sister frowned.

Vanya moved closer to Luther.

"I'm sorry, Diego, but I think—"

"Okay, we all know what you're going to say," my brother snapped, then shifted his gaze to Klaus standing next to me. "What about you, stoner boy? What do you got?

"Oh, so, what? I'm needed now?"

"Just spit it, Klaus," Luther impatiently hopped from foot to foot.

"I'm with Diego, because SCREW YOU!"
