that cold night in december
when you wrapped your jacket around me
and whispered the words i'd longed to hear all summer long“sorry it took me so long to muster the courage, starshine” you had said to me
your eyes shone, although everything else about you appeared exhausted
so i had put on the widest smile
and assured you that the time it took did not matter anymorefor we were in love, deeply and unapologetically,
and all you needed to do was call me by my name
and i was staying by your side forever
for the end of our lifetimes.—her
