It took 3 hours to convince Tony you were not there to murder him. He was actually very reasonable considering you had broken in and waited in the dark for him like a creepy shadow.
"I swear I'm not here to hurt you or anyone, I just need help and you are the only one who can help me" - "how can I trust you? You snuck right through the front door" - "it was the only way I could get to you! I'm telling the truth, I don't want anyone to be harmed!" - "but you came from Hydra" - "it's not what you think". It went back and forth like this for the majority of the conversation, he hadn't alerted any backup in case you were there to kill everyone, he didn't want to make it easier for you.
The time was passing and you were becoming more frantically worried about Hydra locating you. The brain chip they used to keep tabs on your whereabouts was also used to manipulate your powers when they didn't want you to use them - mostly against themselves. You knew Stark would be able to deactivate it but you had to bring him round to your side first. Tony was also observing that you looked rather sickly, you had walked a long while and the rapture thoughts were starting to creep in. Hydra would lower your dose on approach to a high stakes mission so that you would have longer between the fixes but you felt the seconds ticking by fiercely.
"The Winter Soldier" - "What? Sergeant silence?" Tony japed. "What about him?" - "He's here, he escaped a few months ago, I know he's here and I know you helped him" - "hey that was only to keep the Captain happy, apparently they're best buddies or something" Tony said sarcastically although you detected a twinge of jealousy in his tone. "Anyway I'm not running a refugee camp for Hydra's runaways, we got too much heat right now and he's useful I guess" - you cut him off "so am I! Think about how I got here, I can help you...I am their best operative".
Tony eventually sees some reason and gives in. He is nowhere near completely trusting you but you can sense that he has compassion for you. "The jury's still out, i'll give you 2 weeks to convince me okay this isn't make a wish. Pull your weight. Don't make me regret this kid...oh and you're on full lockdown. Don't be sneaking off or snooping around the compound." He is droning on at you but you feel nothing but relief. Lockdown here would be the safest place for you and you would be surrounded by the Avengers. "Let me see if Bruce can fix this chip before I take you to the team". Tony leads the way shaking his head - "what the hell am I doing" he mutters and tuts.
You meet Bruce Banner in his science lab working into the late hours. You have heard of him from your time at hydra as they have tried to replicate his gamma radiation formula before and failed terribly. He is audibly confused by your presence but Tony explains and Bruce trusts his judgement. "You never stop do you Tony?" - "stop what?" - " you never stop bringing me in the loop on your crazy shit". He is able to fix the chip for now but with Hydra not in control you have full grasp of your power. An extreme danger in the wrong hands, including yours. You were unstable. "Keep this hush hush til morning please Banner, I don't need the A team coming down here guns-a-blazing" - "yeah yeah, keep your little pal locked down at least" - "two steps ahead of you Banner, as always."
Tony escorts you discretely to a holding cell-like area. You think cell-like as the cell's you have known all your life were wet and claustrophobic. Not to mention pitch black, stinking and occasionally visited by the truly heinous guards in the dead of night. This "cell" was clean and safe and more akin to a bedroom. There was an actual bed with real covers instead of rags and rusted metal. You were going to float to heaven tonight in your dreams, rolling in comfort.
"Okay this is you, goodnight kid...please don't kill anyone" Tony begged and then left the room locking it securely with one command to Jarvis. You tentatively sat on the bed, unfamiliar with this level of softness. Sleep took you away on an instant.
