The hallway ahead of you is dark and endless. The haunting shadows play on your mind along with the muffled screams bouncing through the walls like an echo. As you get closer the sound grows and taunts you. Sweat dripping down your head and back. The screams boom when you reach the door at the end of the tunnel. A cold-rolled iron obstacle of a door. With all your strength you push your way through where a little girl is lying, cherry red blood seeping through her hair covering the ground with a sheen. You nervously approach her cold shell of a body and place your hand on her head. There is no life detected, no warmth to her skin. You look into her mind to reach the place where her soul is gone and grab onto it. She sits up sharply with a screeching gasp impaling you back into reality where you sat up rattling in your first comfortable bed.
Breathlessly you think about how you still didn't get a good sleep. At least for once. But the nightmares were a plague. They attacked you like a virus.
You remind yourself where you are and prepare to get ready for your first day. Tony had not said when it was safe for you to leave so you had to wait for him to come for you. Your stomach growled fiercely as you had not actually eaten in several days. It was as if Hydra forgot that food is necessary for life. Instead they fed you with Rapture, the desperation was beginning to swell in your stomach. You weren't sure what to tell Tony, "I'm highly addicted to this super potent drug, do you have any?" - not a good idea.
Just then Tony approached the door and gave Jarvis a command that let him enter. "Hey...uh how'd you sleep?" Tony asked somewhat awkwardly. - "good enough, the bed is soft" - "I ugh briefed the team", he leans down to hand you a paper cup with some sort of brown liquid, you are unfamiliar with it. "What is this?" - "its, it's a coffee, you know caffeine, it wakes you up...just drink it its hot". You take an apprehensive sip. "Good?" - "weird and bitter, How did they take the news?" you ask going in for another sip. It was more mellow the second time. "Some had more to say than others. But there always someone who has to challenge me - usually Rodger's. It's a team decision. They have agreed to go along with this for now but the same still applies" - "two weeks", you haven't forgotten. "Okay um there's some clothes over there - he points to a drawer in the corner - get dressed and I'll come back for you". You nod before he turns away. "And drink the coffee!".
You were able to wash yourself in a small bathroom attached to the room. You pulled on a plush and comfortable gray sweater with a pair of matching jogging bottoms. You had seen these be worn by athletic looking types when on missions. There was also shoes. "Va-aans, Vans?" You slipped on the black shoes that had no laces and Tony came back for you soon after. "You definitely smell better", he observed out loud.
In the daylight it was suddenly apparent how sleek and bright the building you were in was. It all gleamed clean and new. Nothing dripping or stinking like must. No wayward screams or drilling sounds. Just calm and quiet.
You approached the large group of characters. All of them individual. Although all of the men were tall and quite attractive and the women were uniquely beautiful. Beauty never crossed your mind much as you spent so much time looking at a life without it. But you wondered in this moment if you fit in with such a crowd. We're you considered an attractive human. Definitely the least of your concerns at the moment in hand but somehow it peaked to the top of your mind. Your long dark hair had only been cut once or twice in your life for some purposes forced on you by Hydra. It draped down your back. You had pale skin from spending years out of the sunlight. But it had a warm hue especially over your cheeks. Your eyes were dark, dark like a feeling. They were grey in truth with a flint of blue Prismarine. But they had a solemn glaze of dark torment over them.
"I'm Steve Rogers", he reached a hand out towards you. You weren't sure what he wanted you to do with it. "She doesn't know what your doing Rogers", Stark said scratching the back of his neck. Steve took your hand and gently shook it up and down. "Nice to meet you" - he was calming. The others introduced themselves and commented. You noted in your mind that the Winter Soldier was not there until you felt a hard-faced presence in the room. He didn't come over, he just glared at you not breaking his cruel looking stare. "I'm Thor God of Thunder", he smirked raising an eyebrow. It broke your focus from the Soldier. "What's your name?" - "uh... it's X I guess" - "Well that's not much of name, it's more of a letter" the huge man with long golden hair spoke with a different accent from everyone else. "Choose something that suits you better", he suggested. "Like what?" You didn't have much to reference. "Just something you like" - you searched your head and only one name came to the surface. She had been beautifully sweet. You didn't deserve such a name as that but there was nothing else coming to you. "I guess I'll go with Y/N".
