Opening Scene: Blackwood Manor

"You came in quite late yesterday"
"Yes, I was out with Cora"
Mother sits behind her desk, piles of files stacked on her desk, her laptop also sat nested amongst them. Her hair was up in a messy bun and she wore sweatpants and a hoodie. She had just come in from one of her morning runs.
She looks stressed glasses resting low on her nose and a pen nestled behind her ear. She hadn't looked up from her work since I had arrived.
Antonio stood by the door as always and even he looked bothered by something.
"The man you ran into yesterday, he is part of something big, bigger than we thought"
I sit up in interest as she goes on.
"There have been cases on the rise lately, kidnapping cases of young ones. At first, we thought it was a human trafficking ring type deal, slaves with powers, quite the exotic pet"
"But there was no news of an influx of stared children on the market, nothing was trading hands. We got stuck, we had no idea how these kids were being taken, they just vanished from their beds and none of them had anything in common aside from being stared and middle class"
"Until now"
She stands from her seat and walks around the table toward me. She leans on her desk and faces me with a grin.
"You my brilliant daughter have found our ticket to all of this, it's quite ingenious really, making a fake stall and then sending the children off with tracking devices in toys"
"The man downstairs helpfully provided us with the names of his employers, unfortunately, he doesn't know what happens after the children are taken, who knows how many of these booths there are around the country, I have my people tracking them down as we speak"
"Luckily they seem to only be targeting pree teens, but just in case that changes and they start up the classic snatch and run with any available started person they can find I suggest you not go out as much or as late, I have already informed everyone in our circle to do the same"
I sit in silence for a bit and take all that information.
"Why hasn't there been any news about this, why are you only telling me now?"
"It will be on the news, next month and you were at Ambridge, the second safest place in the world, second only to this house, you did not need to know"
"When did this all start?"
"Sometime starting this year, I didn't really care until it became clear they were targeting our kind"
"How many have been taken?"
"25, that we know of"
"That's a lot"
"Not my fault the Norday Police is incompetent"
"How has the NCA not been called in yet?"
"Well I've taken an interest in this case, so they are not needed, not yet anyway"
"So you're playing detective"
She goes quiet and stares at me intently.
"Have you been taking your medication?"
