Chapter 3: Mock Battle

From the control room of Plantation 13, Natsu and Kurome stood beside Nana and Hachi, watching as Squad 13 activated their Franxx for the first time and began to gain a feeling for them. The red-haired male watched closely and hummed, taking note that all four Franxx were drastically different from one another.

Kurome: "Their Franxx are all different in design..." She whispered to him, as the male nodded.

Natsu: "Yeah I noticed... Seems like we weren't the only ones the Doc gave special treatment..."

Kurome: "Well they are a part of his plan after all." Her partner hummed in response before suddenly, what sounded like a moan caught their attention, causing the two to turn back to the large screen.

Miku: "A-Ah~!"

Zorome: "Q-Quit making weird noises!"

Miku: "I-It's a natural reaction!"

Kurome: "She's not wrong. You'll have to get used to it."

Miku: "See? Kurome's on my side!"

Natsu's thoughts: "Reminds me of the first time I connected to Kurome... What a time that was..." He thought before suddenly grunting as he looked to his onyx-eyed partner, who merely stared at him with a faint blush.

Kurome: "Pervert..."

Natsu: "I didn't even do anything..."

With that bit over, the holding clamps around the four Franxx released, allowing them to finally take their first steps. The first one to exit was Delphinium, the white and blue Franxx piloted by Ichigo and Goro and soon, Argentea, Genista and Chlorophytum weren't far behind before they all stood in a perfect line.

Natsu: "You're doing great guys. Now just remember, it's your first time. So, take it slowly."

Futoshi: "Did I do it right? I didn't suck?"

Genista: [Nah, you were fine.] she reassured him, a happy smile on her face.

Futoshi: "Hehe... We're perfectly matched, huh?" The black and green Franxx covered her mouth with her hand giggled lightly to herself.

Zorome: "Woah, quit getting all lovey-dovey over this crap." His voice sounded from Argentea as the pink and white Franxx pointed at herself with a confident smirk. "I was the first to finish, you know? Got that, double-digits!? And don't you forget that!" He exclaimed, making Argentea point at Delphinium now.

Goro: "Well, he's in high spirits."

Chlorophytum: [What's the point of competing among ourselves?] She questioned, sounding more annoyed with the boy's antics.

Zorome: "Hah! Sour grapes, much!" All of a sudden, Argentea began to do flips, causing her to let out a few squeals in surprise.

Argentea: [H-Hey! Don't be rough!] She berated but it would be too late as she landed bad on her heel and began to take a tumble with a loud scream, but thankfully, Delphinium caught her by her arm

Delphinium: [You okay?]

Argentea: [...Thanks...]

Kurome: "Remember, while you Stamen have the initiative when it comes to moving, you also have to remember about working with the Pistil. Keep in mind for if she'd be able to keep up with you or not. If she can't, then it'll end in disaster." She radioed, earning her a small scoff from Zorome.

Zorome: "Thanks, Miss High-and-Mighty..."

Hachi: "Line up in formation with Delphinium in the center and advance."
