taxi!" yelled scarlet. trying to hail a cab on the busy 52nd street. unfortunately being rather short for her age and only 15 things were not going well. grumbling she reached into her pocket and pulled out a crisp 100 dollar bill and waved it next to the road. and within 2 minutes a trademark yellow taxi cab pulled up in front of her. scarlet pulled open the door and sat down. "hope u aint running away missie" asked the cabbie with a broad new york accent. " 35th and lexington and i assure you im not running away" she replied . satisfied with her answer the cabbie started the car. as they turned the corner of 35th street an array of police cars came into view. "you sure this is where you want to be dropped of miss?" asked the cabbie not wanting to be questioned by the police. again. "quite certain" replied scarlet quickly as she climbed out the car handing the cabbie a 50 dollar note and walking away "ay you forgot your change!" shouted the cab driver "keep it" shouted back scarlet as she walked towards the police cars. the cabbie got back in the cab and drove away. it was only later he noticed the buissness card slipped in with the note.
the room was immaculate, not a trinket or niknak out of places. the body had been found in the living room. hanging from the ceiling fan. a typed note on the coffee table. the room its self was very modern, a white couch on a zebra striped rug with a small square coffee table between the couch and the television. like the living room the adjoining kitchen/ dining room was just as impeccable. the only sign that someone had lived there was the half eaten salad lying abandoned on the counter.
it had been classified as a suicide the moment the first police officer arrived so there weren't many people around. somehow that just made it worse for Jennifer. she could picture the victim hanging the noose. tears streaming down her face as she steeped onto the nearby chair. she shook her head and instead foucused on the voice coming from the entrance. " i've already told you! call detective inspector lestrade and he will tell you... dont you 'kid' me!" the speaker was obviously female, and british. And agitated. sighing she walked over. in front of her was the wierdest scene she had ever seen since becoming a detective. the person who had been yelling was a young red-head. dressed in combat boots and a black jacket. and the poor officer was desperatly trying to explain something to her."excuse me officer." she said stepping inbetween the two and turining towards the officer "what appears to be the problem" she asked calmly, " thank god. this B**** comes in here and tries to come into the crime scence. probably some crazy fan trying to see if the rumours where true" he says giving Scarlet the stink eye. to which she roles her eyes. Jennifer sighed "ok firstly. officer Smith," she replied angrly her temper rising " please refrain from using such language. this is a crime sceane. secondly i believe that its time for your break" then while 'officer smith' slumped off, Jennifer turned towards the teen. and gave her a quick once over. she was fairly short. Choppy short red hair and deep green eyes. black combat boots, a red striped t-shirt, partily covered by a black hoodie and camo cargo pants. " and you are?" she asked agryly looking at jennifer. " detective Jennifer Watson" she replied placidly " are you a realitive of ms West " Jennifer asked, doing her best 'im so sorry for your lose voice' "no" the redhed replied. " and id much appreciate it if every one stopped treating me like an ignorant child!" she said, her voice getting louder, nearly shouting. " im sorry miss but this is a crime scene." jen stated "i know that!" replied the mysterious redhed. stamping her foot and rubbing her forehead. then she looked up and stared at jennifer. "your 21 right?" she asked. when jennifer didn't reply she continued. "you joined the police force what, 4 months ago? bit young for a police detective." she didn't stop there "it was your mother wasn't it?" the redhead asked sincerely. "I'm sorry could you repeat that" replied jennifer. thoroughly taken back. the red-head continued, "your mother, she was murdered. thats why you became a police officer." she paused. "and why this crime scene has made you so edgy. cause it reminds you of her murder" jennifer gasped internally. how had she known, she looked at the girl quizzically. before voicing her thoughts. "elementary really. obviously your smart, young and attractive. women like you either become models or lawyers. not detectives. also your appearance suggests your generally more fun and bubbly but for some reason depressed." "a women is dead!" interrupted jennifer . clentiching her fists "no its more than that" continued the red-head "conclusion: your mother was murder. faked suicide. and now if you would be so kind as to let me through" she finished, waiting for Jennifer's response. jennifer turned and grabbed a pair of blue scrubs and booties "put these on first" scarlet gladly complied. a triumphant grin on her face. before marching in to the apartment. jennifer followed. shaking her head "great. a regular Sherlock Holmes"
