Mental Diary 6

I hear footsteps nearing closer and closer to us. "Spike, they are going to check here," I meow. "I know," Replied Spike. Suddenly, the door to the backyard opens. I slowly peek out and see my owner staring at me. "Spark!" She yells. I dart out of the doghouse and climb the fence. "Thanks!" I meow to Spike.

I quickly run on the fence, as far as I can go. I can go annoy that dog, but I'm really tired. It's getting dark outside. No, I'm staying on the fence. I'm a predator, and predators don't give up. Ever! Suddenly, my paw hits an uneven fence and I fall into some backyard. "OW!" I meow loudly. Suddenly, a loud bark makes me jump.

I stare into their glass door and gasp in shock (which is hard for a cat to do) because I am seeing an amazing thing. Something I never saw before. It's the fourth breed. The dog is yellow, large, has a big mouth, and doesn't have pointy ears. The fourth breed, and I thought there were three.

Yet, the dog is smarter than I thought. It opens the glass door by itself and slowly walks up to me. I nervously sit and whimper. "Don't worry, I won't hurt you," He barks. "I'm being chased by my owner and I fell in here!" I quickly explain. "I'm sorry!" I quickly add. "Want to be friends?" He asks, raising his paw. I put my paw down on his. "Okay," I meow in reply.

"I have a good hiding place, and I have some cat food that I stole from an annoying cat," He says. I smile. I have an annoying dog! "Thanks. So, where is the hiding spot?" I ask. "Behind that bush, there is a small hole in the ground," He barks, pointing his paw to the bush. "Max!" Somebody yells from the house. "Gotta go!" He barks, running into the house.

Hmm. Max. Nice name. I walk behind the bush and think about how lucky I am.
