Chapter 1: Beginning Of The End
It was all normal. Nothing new, nothing old. The normal or boring routine of life going over and over every day. I was currently at school, on my lunch break. I would normally be with my classmates but they were off on an adventure to the tuck shop to buy God knows what. I was hanging around the classroom listening to music whilst on my phone checking out the latest 'interesting' events happening in my life. There was some stupid noise that kept annoying me even though I had my headphones on. Unable to take it anymore, I took my headphones off and went to the window to the left of the classroom. To my astonishment, the noise that was annoying me was the sound of everyone either shouting or screaming. Ghastly white figures cloaked in red flooded my view.
They appeared to be my classmates and fellow students from different year levels. What was highly disturbing was that they were eating on fellow students flesh. Had they gone mad? This was similar to an opening scene in a horror movie featuring zombies. Why zombies; because that was the only explanation on what horror was going on in front of me. The first thought was to run. The second thought was to where. If this truly was happening inside my school, was it happening elsewhere? Either way, I had to find a weapon. I have been doing fencing for a while now, and the fencing gear and equipment was located in a room about an oval away in terms of distance. Luckily, I could get there while staying inside the building, while the zombies were outside. I paced through the girls bathrooms quickly, to see if I looked presentable for a zombie apocalypse (this is intended as a joke). My brown hair had fallen loosely over my shoulders. My white skin remained white, meaning a human could not become a zombie by using the same air. My aqua eyes looked scared. I tried to keep calm, only to make myself even more distraught. Coming for no other reason, I began to turn only to stop when a groan was heard. It was coming from outside the bathroom.
It must be a zombie. I could hide, but that would make it hard for me to bypass it later, so I came closer to the noise. I could see the zombie now. The zombie was my Maths teacher, Mrs Finn. It just dawned on me that she was staring at me. I couldn't see her pupils, only white eyes rolled into her head. She continued walking, but not towards me. She was looking at me but it seemed that she couldn't see me. This was good. I quickly manoeuvred past her as quietly as I could and went towards the direction of the gym. As I went towards the gym, I kept recounting what Mrs Finn looked like. Her skin was grey, but gave off a white aura. Blood lay over her mouth and arms. I'd hate to have seen what she was doing before. My thoughts became interrupted as a smell of blood entered my nose. It was coming from the direction of the gym. The closer I got, the thicker it became. I was at the gyms doors.
I opened the doors. A smell that was so heavy nearly made me faint as I entered. There were no zombies there, but there was writing on the walls saying 'this is the beginning of the end' written in blood over and over. Whoever had written this had gone insane. I rushed towards the room, grabbed my sword, and left as fast as I could with no complications. I had to get out of here as fast as I could, was the only goal on my mind right now. As I was walking out of the gym, I heard my phone get a text message. In all this horror I had forgot about my phone! The text message was from Madelyn, one of my classmates. She said 'look up'. I looked up.
She was on the gyms roof waving to me. She sent me another message saying, "don't talk to me aloud because noise attracts them. Come up here via the stairs in the attic in the room next to the gym. After that we can discuss what we can do there." I followed her instructions and went to the room next to the gym. While doing this, it occurred to me that she had said that noise attracts them. This makes sense because I went past Mrs Finn quietly before and she didn't notice me. I arrived on the roof to find Madelyn standing looking at me. She was smiling. When I looked closer, she was crying to. As I began to walk towards her to ask why she was crying, I could see her walking closer and closer to the edge of the roof. Why was she walking backwards? Just as I was about to ask why, she fell from the roof. Her final words were "goodbye Rachael".
I heard a splat.Authors Note~
Well here is my first chapter, hope you enjoyed it. It might if been a bit short (and gruesome), but I will increase it someday. I would appreciate any feedback given!
