Chapter ten: game of lies

Quinn's POV:

My body was trembling in fear when I entered the office of the interns. I couldn't sleep the entire night because I couldn't stop thinking about what Ariana would do next. She became unpredictable to me and it scared me. She always had crazy outbursts when I was together with her, which lead my sister to strongly dislike her but it still was something I could handle. Now I had the feeling that she was crazier than before because of what happened at that college and I knew that I definetely couldn't handle that.

As soon as I entered, I immediately went to the coffee machine to get some black coffee. I actually hated coffee but I was so tired right now, that it was more of a need than enjoyment. I looked at Sophie, who was already laughing with the other interns and by the look of her face, I noticed that she probably did her dare last night. Sometimes I wished that my life was as simple as hers...

Just laughing with everyone and have fun in life without worrying about my family or Ariana but of course everything always had to be complicated. Then Misses Watson suddenly opened the door and everyone immediately went quiet while we looked at her very confused. "Good morning interns, I don't want to hold you back from your work for so long so I just get to the point. Miss Evans, Miss Grande wants you as her personal assistent for today so you will leave your usual work now and follow me to her office.", she told me and my eyes widened in fear.

Of course Ariana would never back off but using my internship against me was just something, the Ariana I knew would never do. Just like when she exposed our relationship in the interview she did... She truly became a beast. But I also knew that my position in this company was so low that I couldn't allow myself to talk back at Misses Watson so I quickly followed her. When we walked through the company, I saw that all the employees were even more stressed than yesterday. It looked like they were basically speed writing and bleeding coffein. Ariana must be very ruthless to them...

When we finally reached the door, I noticed how my hands were shaking when she opened the door. When we walked into the office, I actually saw how huge it was. The windows were so large that I was able to see all of Florida and they were a lot of couches and papers all over the room. I looked at Ariana, who sat at her desk and looked very concentrated when she talked to the two men in black suits, who were sitting across from her.

"I'm sorry to disturb you Miss Grande but you told me to bring Miss Evans to you immediately.", Misses Watson excused herself but Ariana just casually stood up and looked at the men. "It's alright Misses Watson. These gentlemen were about to leave anyway.", she said and the two men immediately stood up and left the room while Ariana was looking at me with angry eyes.

"You can go as well Misses Watson. I need to talk to Miss Evans in private.", she told her and I noticed that Misses Watson tried to hold herself back from letting out a relieved sigh while she left the office. Now there was only me and Ariana... The tension in this room caused my hands to get very sweaty. "Sit down.", she said very dry and I gulped before I sat down across from her. "How is your boyfriend?", she asked and I immediately looked down.

I hated to lie and she knew that. "He... Is fine.", I stuttered out very nervous while she nodded but her expression still remained serious. "Well then, let's talk about your work. As my personal assistent you have take care of all of my needs and if you do a good job at it, then I will write a very nice review of your work to your college.", she told me and I tried to get some confidence to tell her what I felt about this work. "I'm honored that you put so much trust into me but I'm just an intern. I don't know if I'm ready to take so much responsibility yet.", I tried to convince her but she just shook her head.

"No one in this company cares about what you think. They only care about what I think and when I think that you are ready to take this job, then you are. Don't you know what it means for your career when I give you positive review? The companies will fight each other to hire you.", she explained and I sighed. I didn't know what to say anymore...
