Chapter thirty: guilt

Quinn's POV:

I had a huge jet leg after the flight and I was glad when we finally reached our hotel. Now we had to wait for Illian, so he could bring us to the holiday house of his family. It was very isolated and the best place to hide until we felt ready to tell our side of the story. His flight was today and he was supposed to be here in the evening.

All of us were very nervous because he didn't tell us how the conversation between him and Ariana went. All he texted was that he was sitting in the plain. The curiousity was killing me but I could overcome most of the time by sleeping. I really shouldn't have travelled so soon since my body was now even weaker than before but I had no choice.

At least I was in France now and I had plenty of time to get some rest here. Roger and Mary were trying to sleep as well but I could tell how nervous they were about the entire situation. We were on the other side of the world and it still felt like Ariana was breathing down my neck. Her presence around us was insane and it constanly reminded us that we weren't safe yet.

Then we suddenly heard someone opening the door to our room and all of us sighed out of relief when it was Illian. He instanly walked towards me and kissed my forehead. "I'm glad you could make it.", I said and he smiled while he caressed my cheek. "And how did your talk with Ariana go?", Mary asked in panic.

"She tried to make me believe that she wanted to apologize but I'm not stupid. I knew she was trying to investigate and I kept my answers as neutral as possible but...", he explained and suddenly stopped. All of us stared at him in worry until Roger couldn't take it anymore.

"But what?", he asked very impatient and Illian sighed. "She saw my plain ticket. She knows that I'm in France now. I told her that it was just a vacation to clear my head but I doubt that she believed me.", he said and I gasped. "Do you think she will come to France?", I asked in horror. "It's possible. We have to go to my house now. Even if she gets here, she won't be able to find us. The house is far away from civilisation. No one finds it unless they know the way.", he said and instanly helped us to carry our lugguage out of the room.

We didn't even bother to unpack our things since we knew we had to move fast. Roger and Illian took care of our lugguage while Mary helped me to walk. It was clear that both of us were struggling because Mary's legs were also still affected from what Ariana did. After Illian and Roger got everything into the car, they helped me and Mary to get into the backseat of the car before Illian started the engine.

Mary was holding my hand during the ride and we were both shaking. We were both suffering the most from everything Ariana did and the idea that Ariana would come to France to chase us down terrified us. "How are we supposed to tell our story when Ariana is chasing us here? Can we even afford to wait?", I asked.

"What do you have in mind?", Roger asked. "I think we should make a livestream to tell our stories. I never really was active on my instagram but ever since Ariana announced that I was her girlfriend, I started to get more and more followers. Since this story is even more viral ever since the press conference I'm sure the livestream will go viral as well.", I explained and they were silent for a while.

"I think it's the best solution for now. We can stream from here and it doesn't take long to prepare it. We just have to figure out what we say and Quinn will confirm it.", Illian said. "And when will we make it?", Mary asked. "Tomorrow night. We are in Europe. When it's night time here, then we have afternoon in America. You have the entire day to figure out what you say.", I said.

"I think we should do it. Now that Ariana might be follow us to France we have to act fast before it's too late.", Roger said and we all agreed. All I could hope for was that people believed us and send the police after Ariana before she found me...
