Knuckles the echidna x Reader, (REMAKE!!)

Who are you?

You were just staring at each other in shock. But, knuckles certainly was NOT expecting you. It had always been just him there, right? He NEVER knew you were there. As he stares at you, he blushes slightly. But, he covers his face and turns away.
"W-who are you?!" He yells as he looks at you. But then, you stand up, and make a run for it. Running back down the stairs, almost tripping.
"Hey, wait!!" He calls outs and starts chasing you, but you were long gone. He just stood at the bottom of the stairs, angry, but also confused. There was someone else on this island he didn't know about?..

Back to you, you were running like your life depended on it. You kept looking back and saw the green light, but that just reminded you of that big red echidna. You were pretty sure he was one, but he really scared you. And, master emerald, ehe said? So that's what it was..

You kept running until you made it back to your house, ran inside, and slammed the door shut. Your back was pressed against the door as you caught your breath. Then, you pinched your arm to make sure you weren't dreaming. And to your luck, the pinch hurt. You winced a bit, but then looked back out the window. It was still there, and it was brighter then ever. You groan and close your curtains, but it still somehow shined, even through your curtains.

'Dumb gem..' you thought and rolled your eyes, then walked back to your room. You closed all of the curtains in your room, and grabbed your sleeping mask. Then, you noticed moxie sleeping peacefully. Lucky. You sighed and put it on, then laid down in bed, getting under the covers. You tried your best to sleep, but that glow was still slightly showing through your windows, and you couldn't stop thinking of that boy you met. Who was he? Was that emerald his? Those thoughts kept filling your mind and you groaned. You kept tossing and turning, and once you finally fell asleep, you immediately got woken up by the bright sun.

'Goddamnit.' You thought. You got up and stretched, then took moxie out of his cage. You walked to your living room, and to your kitchen. You grab his food and place it in a little bowl on the table, and set him down. He immediately started eating, and you smiled and softly pet his head.

"Lucky duck, you got sleep, huh?" You said while laughing a tiny bit as moxie got the food all around the bowl, then you walked over to your bathroom. You washed your face, and grabbed a new pair of clothing.
(Outfit one- a dark green hoodie with some black flare pants, and some black heel boots.)
(Outfit two- a black t shirt with baggy pants, and some sneakers.)
Once you got changed, you put on some light makeup, and did a little spin in the mirror. It's something you always did, it's when you loved your outfit. After you left the bathroom, you saw moxie on his little obstacle course thing you set up for him. You smiled and scratched his head, then thought of something.

Should you go see the emerald again? Now that you knew what it was, and where it was, you thought you should go visit it again. But what if you see that guy again? Well, it can't be his. Who puts a giant emerald on the middle of an island, and expects no one to go near it? He has to be stupid or something!

You sighed and grabbed your phone, and kept pepper spray in your pocket, just Incase. "Be back soon, moxie!" You called for him, then closed and locked your front door. You walked down the steps, then started walking along the path to the emerald. You were looking around the forest, admiring every little detail. It was a really nice place to live, you never really got bad vibes here. Just nice, chill calm vibes.

About 20 minutes later of walking, you saw it through the same two trees from last night. You hide behind one, and peeked over. You saw the same guy there, just guarding the emerald. Was it his? No, it couldn't be. But, why is he so protective of it? Greedy ass. You then started walking towards it, and the echidna got alarmed.

"You!" He calls out and runs down the steps, and he was now standing right in front of you. "Who are you? And why were you so close to the master emerald last night?! Are you trying to steal it??" He yells right into your face.

"My name is y/n l/n, and I was ONLY next to it because the light was freaking BLINDING me last night, and I got absolutely no sleep."

"So? That's not my problem! Stay AWAY from the emerald!"

"Why are you so protective of it anyways?"

"Because if ANYONE takes it, the island will collapse! Do you want that?!"

Then, you went silent. The island would collapse? How?? He's gotta be lying. He just doesn't want anyone else to take it, he's REALLY greedy.

"So, no one can even touch it?" You say as you look behind him.

"Yes. I cannot risk anything happening to it."

"Oh, uh, okay. So, what's your name?"

"Knuckles, the great echidna warrior."

"Woah, warrior?"

"Yes. I am the only one left of my ancestors, and I need to avenge them."

Woah, that's cool.

"So, uh.. do you just stand there all day?"

"Yes."

"Does it ever get lonely up there?"

"No, it's peaceful up there."

"Uh, want me to sit up there with you?"

Then, he just looks at you. But a bit later, he gives you a little nod. You smile and walk up the stairs with him, and sit on the top one. You guys had a conversation going, and it was nice. He looked like a big tough guy on the outside, but he was really just a big ol' softie. He was also pretty funny, too. You learned you had some things in common. You guys sat there basically the whole day, but you ended up leaving at sunset.

"I'll see you tomorrow, knuckles!" You smile and wave, then started walking back to your house.

"Bye, y/n." He waves back, and you got home just before it went dark. You walked into your house, and saw moxie flying to you. He flew onto your shoulder and sat there, and you smiled and pet him. You feed him, and he goes to sleep. You looked out your window to see the big emerald shining, and it was almost.. peaceful. You get ready for bed, and once you were ready, you lay down, and just try to sleep. Once you do fall asleep, you were just thinking of the emerald, and knuckles.

You had made a new friend.
