The Perfect Day

The day needed to be perfect.

Mario had asked Peach if she would accompany him as he completed some business back in Boston. Of course, she told him it would delight her to join him.

Peach had always cared so deeply for Mario. He was so strong, courageous, confident and cheerful. Yet, she couldn't help but find it adorable the way so much of that confidence and strength seemed to melt away in her presence.

For years she tried to help him build his confidence around her. Through subtle hints and flirtations, she tried to let him know that it was okay, he could be his bold self around her, he could pursue her... and she would reciprocate. As much as she wanted to be with Mario, she was not going to push for it. Peach didn't want a loyal puppy following her and obeying her every command, she wanted a partner to stand boldly next to her. A protector against Bowser's army, guarding her and her kingdom.

Mario was that man, Peach knew it. But he needed to see it in himself, He needed to see that despite being a plumber and her being a princess, that he was deserving of her. So, she waited, she worked, and slowly, she helped Mario bring out his true potential.

In recent months, Mario's confidence around her was becoming so much stronger, he was finally becoming the man she knew he could be and being around him was becoming nothing short of exciting. At times she felt he was going to sweep her off her feet, take her in his arms, and the two would run off to vanish behind the fading light of a beautiful sunset.

So, the day needed to be perfect, he would be arriving at any moment. Throwing open her balcony doors, Peach was grateful to find the sunny weather had complied. A crisp breeze flowed past Peach into her spacious room.

"I hope the weather in Boston matches." She thought to herself.

Sitting at her vanity set Peach applied makeup and a small spray of perfume giving off a scent of vanilla. She was wearing one of her favorite outfits. A white, wide brim hat, white top and long pink skirt. She hoped it would not be too out of place in a place like Boston. Peach was determined. She was going to be as fun and flirtatious as a princess can be (without going too far of course). This would be a special day. A day they would never forget... she was sure of it!

Suddenly, one of her Toads came charging in panting and clutching a report. "He has been taken princess! Bowser has taken Mario."

"WHAT?! Why would he... Send a message to Luigi at once!"

Peach was furious; her perfect day with Mario was already ruined due to that blasted turtle! He seemed to have a special talent for ruining every special moment they had together.

But Peach was also confused. What was Bowser planning? What could have happened to cause Bowser to target Mario rather than herself?

She grabbed the report are quickly started to read. The more she read, the more worried she became.

"Prepare my Yoshi, I'm going myself."

"Princess you can't!!! Bowser..."

"I SAID PREPARE MY YOSHI!"

Her voice echoed ominously down the castle halls. Peach hated raising her voice to her Toads, but a panic had risen within her. She didn't have time to debate.

There was something terribly wrong in the report. Bowser's behavior was off, normally he is so theatrical in his nastiness, it boarded on the point of being boisterous and silly. Yet the Bowser in this report was cold, stealthy and efficient. Peach felt it in her heart, something was off in Bowser, and Mario may be in real danger. There was no time to wait for Luigi, she would have to go herself.
