(TW blood, Mention of needles, & death)

I wake up to the smell of freshly brewed coffee hot and ready. I rub my eyes and sit up, realizing I fell asleep at Octavius's house again. "Good morning dear. You fell asleep at your desk again so Otto moved you to the couch" Rosie states, handing me a cup of coffee. "I made sure to make it just the way you like it!" Rosie states with her usual warm smile. "Thank you prima" I state, Rosie and I like to consider each other cousins. "I see you're starting your morning off with Spanish." Otto states with a chuckle, entering the room.

"Oh stop it Otto!" Rosie jokes, nudging his elbow. "Yeah Otto, leave me alone!" I state with a dramatic flare. "Same goes for you Y/N" Rosie states with a small laugh. "Yes ma'am" Otto and I state, giving each other a glare before Otto takes a seat next to Rosie. "Is everything alright dear?" Rosie asks Otto. "I didn't sleep too much last night. I was too excited for today." Otto responds. Both me and Rosie sigh. I finally realized that during the conversation, I finished my cup of coffee. "How about this, since I finished my coffee I'll make some more, enough for the three of us. Sounds good?" I state, getting up from the couch. "I would like that." Otto says with a warm smile.

(Fuck this, let's time skip to the event!)

I'm going over my calculations, constantly re-checking them, I had to make sure everything was in order. Today absolutely nothing can go wrong or Otto would fire me for sure. I feel a tap on my shoulder. "Don't stress yourself out. I made sure to go through everything in advance last night." Otto says. "Are you sure Otto? It's your biggest project and I don't want to be the one to mess everything up." I protest with a bit of a whine at the end. Otto gives me a look that says 'Everything will be just fine. Don't worry about it' I calm down then perk up, hearing the guests enter. "Well everyone is coming in so we best go." He cocks his head in a beckoning motion so I stand up and follow along.

Entering the room I see there is a considerable amount of people, nothing too much to set off my social anxiety. Otto gets to the front of the room and begins to speak. "Ladies and gentlemen, my wife Rosie and I would like to welcome you this afternoon." I set up my station on the side and noticed Norman and Peter, standing in the front row. "But before we begin, has anyone lost a large roll of 20 dollar bills in a rubber band?" Otto asks the audience. 'Oh fuck.. not this joke..' I think to myself, sighing on the inside. "Because we found the rubber band." When he states the punchline, a chuckle manages to slip out of my mouth as the audience laughs and so does Octavius.

"It is a terrible joke, but thank you for coming" he leads with a confident expression. I fiddle with the pens in my pocket and look back to Octavius. "Now, allow me to introduce my assistance." He walked over to the mysterious object that was covered, pulling down the sheet and revealing the actuators. 'All this hard work is going to pay off' I think to myself with a smile. "These four actuators were developed and programmed for the sole purpose of creating successful fusion!" He announces while removing his coat and handing it to Rosie. Rosie looks at me as if she gave me a pat on the back. I return a smile and turn my attention back to Otto.

"They are impervious to heat and magnetism" he says, stepping into the latch and pressing a couple buttons on the keypad to begin the process. It connects over his stomach as if it were a heavy duty seat belt as the back piece splayed over his spine. As the needles insert into his back, I wince and look away. To be honest, creating the needle part was a tad nerve racking as I've never really liked needles. Once the process finishes I look back over to Otto and see him looking up towards the ceiling. The actuators begin to rise and I start stimming inside. 'It's working, it's really working!' I think to myself. "The smart arms are controlled through my brain though a neural link" Octavius states as the crowd moves their attention towards a screen that was displaying live feed coming directly from the actuators.
