I groan as I reach over grabbing my phone that was on the floor, I pick it up and answer the call bringing it to my ears.

"hello?" I said half asleep as I roll over onto my back.

"good morning honey" I hear his voice making me smile, my dad.

"dad?" I ask and hear his laughter.

"where are you?" I hear his confused voice through the phone.

"what?" I groan rubbing my eyes as I sit up looking next to me to a passed out Kat.

"I come home to see my beautiful daughter and you aren't here to greet me" he says making my eyes shoot open. He's home.

I smile brightly as I jump out of the bed, "I stayed at my friend's place, it was her birthday" I explain as I hurry to the bathroom to change into some leggings and a t-shirt.

"are you okay? did you have fun?" he asks like the worried father he is.

"everything is great! partied a little to hard but i'm alive" I laugh lightly while running out into the living room to collect my things.

"Ok well I'm home whenever you want to swing by and say hello to your old man" he sighs loudly into the phone.

What a drama king, "I'll be there soon dad"

"I love you" he says making me smile, it's not something I hear everyday.

"love you too, byeeeeee" I end the call smiling as I look up to see Kat rubbing her eyes as she drags her feet into the kitchen grabbing herself a glass of water.

"who has you smiling like that?" she mumbles walking over to me with a smirk on her face.

I roll my eyes at her as I lace up my shoes, "it's my dad, he's back!" I cheer standing up.

"wait where are you going?" she asks standing up quickly with a panicked look on her face.

"i'm going home" I give her a weird look.
"You sure you'll be alright?" She asks grabbing my hands in hers.

"I promise I'll be fine, and whenever he leaves I'll come back"

"promise?" she asks holding her pinky out.

"promise" I hook my pinky on hers.

She pulls me close staring right into my eyes, "if you don't text me every hour I will bring Jacob and find you"

"okay" I mumbled, she's pretty intimidating for such a small person.

"okay get your things I'll drop you off" she says grabbing a jacket and her keys.

"I can take the bus" I tell her as she slips her sandals on.

"nope, I'm bringing you to make sure everything is alright" she says opening the door for me as we both walk out to her grey Corolla.

I see his black Tesla in the driveway making me jump out of Kat's car, "bye kat thanks for the ride ill call you later" I close her door running straight into the house since no one ever locks the front door.

"is that my Ella?" I hear his voice from his downstairs office making me run towards the open double doors.

"DAD!" I shout smiling as I rush over to him as I wrap my arms tightly around his large frame.
