The house was silent, other the distinct sound of the metal end of the walking stick and the occasional thunder outside. The pouring rain did nothing to lessen the eeriness of the worn out walls. With every step down the stairs, the walking stick caused a sharp sound to echo in the otherwise silent basement. The man's slow descent came to a stop at one point, he ran his hand along the wall beside him.
The single fluorescent light lit up in the middle of the room.
The light revealed the figure of the shivering little girl, curled up in a corner. The girl, not more than 8 years of age, had her tear and fear filled green eyes squinted against the harsh light. As soon as they fell on the man, a terrified whimper escaped her mouth and she shook her head in desperation.
The man limped to another corner of the room and silent sobs racked her little body, knowing what was to come. She tried to scream and call for help but the words were stuck in her throat, her voice no longer could be heard.
The man turned around, exposing her worst fear in his hands.
A silent scream of pain and fear reverberated in the room as the whip made contact with her fragile and already wounded body.
