Since the dawn of time, the Horrors have shaped the Known World. They are ancient beings, older than the moon, stars, and sun. Their power knows no limits, a neverending well that continues to shape the world as we know it.

Death, Desire, Despair, Delight, and Destruction form the foundations of our existence. The five Horrors create and destroy, act and react, but remain callous. We are their creations, creatures with whom they can toy. The Horrors devour light, feeding off the lives of mortals and gifting us knowledge in return.

This is why mortals instigated the Binding of the Horrors.

The Horrors were tired. Mortals grew restless. And so an agreement was forged. The Horrors would lie dormant, shaping the world through their subconscious powers. And the mortals would not interfere with the world that they created. Should the mortals betray them, vengeance would be wrought.

It is for that reason that we fear them.

To see a Horror is to lose one's mind altogether, to shatter one's being with cosmic secrets mortals are not meant to know. They hold no form, no identity outside of the concept they hold dominion over. We are not meant to exist on the same level as the Horrors.

Unless a Horror reveals its true name.

A Horror's true name unlocks its power, a feat not bestowed lightly. Should mortals interfere with the whims of the Horrors, a Divine is chosen to wield their power. We do not know how this is done and we are not meant to. But when a Divine walks among us, devastation follows. Mortals must uphold peace in the Known World, or feel the wrath of our archaic overlords.

We are loyal to the Horrors.

We are servants to the Horrors.

We give our lives to preserving harmony and invite retribution when we fail.

For the Horrors are our salvation and the end of times.
