AN// From this point on, Julia is speaking Dutch unless she's speaking to Drea or any other person from the States. So, please use your imagination because I'm not about the translate the whole second half of this book
------------
I forgot how long a flight it was back to Europe, but while I was on the plane; I could at least talk to everyone which prevented my death by boredom. When I landed in Amsterdam, it was 8 a.m. and I knew we were five hours ahead, so it would be 3 a.m. for Drea. When I got home to Adrian and I's house, it was going on to 9:30. Instantly, as I stepped through the door, everything bit me. It felt weird stepping into this house without him greeting me. I shoved my stuff aside and found my phone to call Drea as I climbed the steps up to the second floor. My footsteps echoed off the walls, making me realise just how empty this place feels now. She answered promptly. "Hi,"
"I'm home," I tell her.
"Good." She sounded tired. "Go get some sleep. You must be tired."
"I am." I found our bedroom as if it was just yesterday that we were walking through this house. "You don't sound like you've slept, though. Are you okay?"
"Yeah-"
"Come get your girl. She kept me up all night!" I heard Angel complain.
Drea scowled. I laughed a little. "Sorry, Angel. Why are you at Angel's?"
"My house feels weird."
I nodded. "You're going to be fine." She whined. I sighed. "Go get some sleep. I'll talk to you later?"
"Call me at 6 pm your time. I'm marking my calendar."
"Aye, aye captain."
I hung up and stared at our bed. The images of me and him tangled up in those sheets came back to me. My throat ached as I pivoted and left the room again, closing the door behind me. The guest room across the hall called to me and I went, stripping out of my clothes and throwing down on the bed. A second later, everything was black.
Gnawing hunger woke me from my slumber when it was a couple of minutes to five. It's a lie that angels feed you in your sleep. Groaning, I dragged myself to the bathroom to brush my teeth, take a shower and then I was hauling myself to the kitchen. It was absolutely pointless because any food that was here would be sure to be spoiled. I grabbed my phone and ordered in.
While I waited for the food to arrive, I called Emilie to check-in. She picked up almost immediately. "LaRue."
"Hey, it's me."
"Oh hey, Jules." She spoke almost excitedly. "How's it going?"
I scoffed. "Time zone is kicking my ass. How's everyone?"
"Good. Leia and Jaison are both back from the hospital. Steph isn't so worried anymore, so Grace isn't so worried, so I'm not so worried, you know? And the list goes on."
I sighed. "I'm glad everyone is doing better. In a situation like that, I would just fail."
"You wouldn't but you won't know what you're capable of doing until you're in the situation yourself."
"That's true."
"Spoken to Drea yet? Those were some pretty strong confessions I heard."
Oh yeah! She heard that. Fuck! "Uhm, yeah. I did call... I Uh..."
"Breathe,"
I drew a deep breath, then released it slowly. Gulping. I tried to speak calmly and slowly. "Yes, I did talk to her this morning. Briefly. Just to let her know that I got here safe and I'm okay."
