"So you having my baby..." As he sang to himself, Emery carefully arranged a few candles on the coffee table, making sure they were spaced evenly and that the wicks were trimmed just right. He had chosen a mix of scents — lavender, vanilla, and sandalwood — that he knew Corinne loved.
As he lit each candle, he felt a sense of excitement building inside him. He had been planning this night for weeks, and he was eager to see Corinne's reaction.
When he was finished with the candles, he turned on the stereo and selected a playlist of soft, romantic music. He had spent hours burning the perfect CD of songs, particularly old school r&b. As the first notes of the first song filled the room, Emery felt a sense of satisfaction. Everything was coming together, just as he had planned.
Now it was time to prepare the food. Emery had cooked Corinne's favorite meal — spaghetti carbonara — and he spent the afternoon shopping for the ingredients and preparing the sauce. As the pasta boiled on the stove, he added the finishing touches to the sauce, making sure it was just the right consistency.
Finally, everything was ready. Emery took a deep breath and waited for Corinne to arrive home from the office. He was nervous but also excited. He knew that tonight was going to be special.
When Corinne walked through the door, the sight of Emery standing in the living room greeted her, looking nervous but happy.
"Hey baby, what's all this?" She asked, gesturing at the candles and the music.
