Homecoming isn't Dylan's favorite event of the year. She always enjoys spending time with her friends, and Homecoming is just an opportunity to do that. But school dances never had and probably never would be her scene. She went to last year's dance with her boyfriend at the time, but they ended up breaking things off things a week later.
Walking by the bomb shelter on her way to class, she briefly looked up from her phone to glance through the open door. But she ended up pausing, blinking, and backtracking when she caught a glance of who was in there.
There stood Carlos, doing what could only be described as a victory dance.
Furrowing her brows, she didn't bother to bite back her smile as she leaned on the doorframe. She knew he'd be in there, since he was supposed to be rehearsing the choreo for Bop to the Top with Seb. But Seb was nowhere to be seen, which was probably why Carlos let himself happy dance like no one was watching. Because he thought there really wasn't anyone watching.
Carlos spun around. But then, when he locked eyes with Dylan, he froze. And Dylan barely muffled a snort when she heard his high-pitched squeak.
"Hi, Carlos." She greeted.
"Dylan!" His voice was higher than normal. "...Hey!"
She was still smiling as she tilted her head. "Am I interrupting?"
Carlos flushed. "No. W...What would you be interrupting?
She crossed her arms as she stepped inside. "Just your adorable happy dance. Do I get to know why you're beaming brighter than the sun?"
"...Well," Smiling sheepishly, he shrugged. "If you must know, I just...asked Seb to Homecoming."
Dylan raised her brows. "And..?"
His smile vanished. "...Seriously?"
"Nah, I'm playing." She ran up to hug him. "You wouldn't be grinning like that if he said anything other than yes."
Carlos laughed over her shoulder. "Thank you. I'm really excited."
They pulled back. "I'm really excited for you. Maybe Homecoming won't be a pain after all."
"Everyone's talking about how excited they are to see you sing."
"Everyone but me." She sighed. "I still haven't picked what I'm singing."
He frowned at her. "Still? Dylan -- the dance is tonight. Don't you have a repertoire of songs just for an occasion like this?"
"I do not." Dylan shrugged. "I figured I'd wing it."
Carlos blinked. "...I will never understand you.
She smiled. "And no one ever will."

Dylan Caley is 100% the type of girl to wear converse with her dress at Homecoming. And she does it proudly, and when she sees the other girls looking at and judging her, she smirks at them and asks if they're jealous. And she knows it makes them think she's a bitch, but there's a reason for that. Because she is one.
