CASSIE WATCHED HAGRID CURIOUSLY, her nerves were so bad after her encounter with Lee a couple of days ago. Cedric had expressed his concerns, and it turned out he was just scared that if she became confident and became her old self again, she would find other friends and talk more to them than she does to him. Cassie assured him that was not the case, and despite still being reluctant, he now couldn't wait to hear her commentate with Lee. He was actually looking forward to it.

Hagrid was saying how he had a treat for the class, which made Cassie perk up a bit. She walked closer to Callie, Hermione, Ron and Harry, placing herself in between her twin and the dark-haired boy. Harry glanced at her subtly, a small smile forming on his lips.

"Everyone gather 'round the fence here!" Hagrid called. "That's it—make sure yeh can see—now, firs' thing yeh'll want ter do is open yer books—"

"How?" said the cold, drawling voice of Draco Malfoy.

"Eh?" said Hagrid.

"How do we open our books?" Malfoy repeated. He took out his copy of The Monster Book of Monsters, which he had bound shut with a length of rope. Cassie looked at her open book, which was different to everybody else's books, they had all belted it shut, or used rope.

"Hasn'—hasn' anyone bin able ter open their books?" said Hagrid, looking crestfallen.

"Cassie have," Callie spoke up, giving the girl a small nudge. Step one on how to get old Cassie back, make her answer something in class, or, in this case, tell everyone how to do something. Lee had immediately told Aurora, Fred and George what McGonagall had told him, and the three repeated it to Callie, Harry, Ron and Hermione in hopes that they could do something in class.

Cassie paled and her hair was now a light pink as everybody stared at her with eager eyes. "Y-You just have t-to stroke it — the, uh, th-the spine of it," She said, her voice shaking and her face a light pink. Callie beamed, stroking the book's spine, and immediately it fell open.

"Oh, how silly we've all been!" Malfoy sneered. "We should have stroked them! Why didn't we guess!"

"I—I thought they were funny," Hagrid said uncertainly to Hermione.

"Oh, tremendously funny!" said Malfoy. "Really witty, giving us books that'll rip our heads off."

"Shut up, Malfoy," said Harry quietly. Hagrid's face fell, and Cassie immediately felt bad. Her eyes narrowed in Draco's direction, but she didn't say or do anything.

"Righ' then," said Hagrid, who seemed to have lost his thread, "so—so yeh've got yer books an'—an'—now yeh need the Magical Creatures. Yeah. So I'll go an' get 'em. Hang on..."
