LIKE USUAL, THEIR DORM ROOM was filled with a lot of chatter as the five girls got ready for bed. Hannah was sitting next to Cassie, helping the blonde put two French plaits in her hair. Susan was looking through Cassie's pyjamas, until she found a baby pink silk button up pyjama shirt with matching pink shorts.
"We have pyjamas similar to this." Susan said. "We should all wear them."
When everyone agreed, Susan got out her red pyjamas and went into the bathroom to change. Dahlia's pyjamas were like a dark shade of purple, Megan's were a nice white colour and Hannah's were black.
"Look at all of us." Megan grinned, twirling in her pyjamas. "We're matching."
At this, Cassie grinned while Hannah tied the end of the plait with a bobble. Once her hair was done, she slipped into her pyjamas and sat at the end of Susan's bed.
"Does anybody want to hear a spooky story?" Dahlia asked, leaving the bathroom with a smirk. She turned off all the lights and grabbed a torch. "Let's sit in a circle... on the floor."
The five girls sat in a circle, their knees touching each other as Dahlia held a torch pointing up towards her face. "Who's ready to be spooked?"
Hannah and Megan raised their hands, while Cassie and Susan exchanged weary glances. Cassie wasn't sure that listening to a spooky story would help with her nightmares, but she knew that it would be somewhat fun, so she slowly raised her hand. All eyes were on Susan now, and she sighed, before raising her hand, too.
"Good." Dahlia grinned. "There were five girls, much like us, and their names were Susan, Hannah, Megan, Cassie and Dahlia..."
Megan sighed. "Of course."
"Megan, Cassie, Dahlia and Susan were following behind Hannah as Hannah was the only one that remembered to bring a torch to light up the dark path. They were on their way to a cabin deep in the woods. The cabin was haunted, at least that's what they were told. As they were really curious, they all decided to check it out for themselves.
Hannah stopped walking, her hand shaking ever so slightly. "What is that?" She asked, pointing directly in front of them.
"Nothing." Susan muttered, grabbing ahold of Hannah's hand. "Let's keep moving."
Dahlia glanced behind them as she heard the rustling of bushes. She tried to convince herself it was just the wind in the trees and bushes, but something felt off. To her, at least.
Megan glanced around, she was terrified of the dark, and couldn't wait to head into the cabin for some source of light. Cassie, however, was pale. The bags under her eyes were visible.
"Are you alright?" Megan asked quietly.
Before Cassie had the chance to reply, they all stopped walking. "Finally." Susan said, relieved. "I was starting to get a bit freaked out back there."
They all headed into the cabin, Megan rushing to turn on the light. Thankfully, it worked. "Lock all the doors." Hannah instructed. "And windows." Dahlia locked them all, before the five sat in a circle. And in the middle of them all? An ouija board."
Susan rolled her eyes. "Seriously?" She muttered. "Of all things, it had to be an ouija board?"
"Is this a good idea?" Dahlia wondered. Cassie stayed silent for a moment.
Cassie was the first to put her fingers on the planchette. "What's the worst that could happen?" She said to the others.
They all copied her actions. "Is there anybody here?" Straight away, the planchette moved to yes.
Susan looked at Hannah, who seemed deep in thought. "What's your name?" She asked.
T H O M A S P I E R R E
Cassie's hands began to shake. "You're the Thomas Pierre?" She asked in a panic. Yes.
"Who's Thomas Pierre?" Megan wondered.
Cassie looked up at Megan. "I thought it was just an urban legend," she said. "He was a big, strong man that lived in a cabin in the woods. To be summoned, you'd have to enter his cabin and say his name out loud. Once summoned, he would take over that person's body."
Cassie remembered when Azalea used to tell her that story when she was a child. Azalea loved finding ways to scare her.
"Right." Susan muttered. "I've had enough of this now." She took her fingers off the planchette.
"We didn't say goodbye!" Hannah exclaimed, eyes wide. The lights flickered off. The board was thrown across the room. And Thomas Pierre? He was in Cassie's body, feasting on the flesh of the other girls. Megan was his first victim."
"That ending was stupid." Hannah muttered.
"And why was I his first victim?" Megan wondered, clearly offended.
"You said his name after Cassie." Dahlia replied. "Nobody's allowed to say his name after it's first been said."
"In other words," Susan grinned, standing up from the circle and turning on the lights. "You're a dumbarse."
The five girls climbed into bed, Cassie however, was hovering by the light switch. She bounced on her feet anxiously. "We can leave the light on tonight, right?"
Megan let out a breath of relief. "I was so hoping someone would ask that." She said. "I vote the light stays on."
Dahlia laughed. "I don't. Lights off, please."
"I agree." Hannah said. "That story wasn't even scary."
All of the girls looked over at Susan. Susan was nervously playing with her hands. "I'd... I'd also like the light on, I'm easily spooked."
Megan and Cassie cheer in victory, with the former holding up her middle finger to Dahlia and Hannah. "Suck on that, losers."
A/N: i love scary stories and urban legends so much.
