THE MOMENT ARTHUR, CASSIE AND Beckett appeared in The Burrow, Mrs. Weasley ran forward, her face filled with concern at the state of the two children. She turned to her husband, and in a hushed whisper, she asked, "What's happened?"

"There's been an attack." Arthur mumbled quietly, helping Beckett and Cassie sit down. "Death Eaters — Francesca Smith is dead."

Molly let out a shocked gasp, her eyes wide.

"They witnessed it, Molly." Arthur said, voice cracking. He couldn't possibly imagine his children witnessing his death. "And by the state of shock they're in... I think they were hit with the cruciatus curse."

"Poor dears." Molly shook her head. "I'll put the kettle on." She waved her wand, watching as Arthur had disappeared into thin air with a loud CRACK!

She sat opposite Cassie and Beckett, her hands reaching to grab theirs. "You're safe now," she whispered softly.

Cassie wiped her eyes and shook her head. She saw it all happen in her dreams. She knew it was going to happen. She should've tried harder to convince Fran to stay home. She should've done something about it, but she didn't. Because of her, Fran was dead.

"It's my fault," Cassie whispered, swallowing the lump in her throat. "I knew it was going to happen, I should've tried harder to stop it. I should've tried harder to get my mum to leave. It's my fault."

Molly shook her head. "No, dear," she said, "It isn't your fault. No matter what, there is no possible way you could've changed the outcome of today. If Fran went home, it could've been you, or Callie, or even Harry in that position instead. Your mother had lived her life, you guys are only kids, you have a lot more living to do."

Beckett leaned his head on Cassie's shoulder. "What's going to happen now?" He wondered, his voice quiet and hoarse.

Cassie assumed they'd all live with their father, but Remus was hardly fit to look after the kids by himself, and she didn't mean that in a harsh way. It's just... she knew he struggled with making money, he just about afforded clothes and food for himself. Plus, with his condition... Cassie was sure they definitely wouldn't be allowed to stay with just him. They were lucky Beckett lived with his father, because otherwise this situation would've been a lot more difficult.

"I was supposed to come live with you all," Beckett told Cassie, "My dad's been going to court..."

"I'm not sure what's going to happen, dear." Molly said gently. "But no matter what happens, you're welcome here whenever."

Beckett reached forward and wrapped his arms around the older woman, failing to conceal his sobs. "Would you like some tea or hot chocolate?" Molly asked, standing up and grabbing Beckett's hand. "Are you hungry?"

Beckett shook his head. "Can — Can I have a hot chocolate please?" He asked.

Molly nodded and looked back at Cassie. "Do you want anything, dear?"

Cassie shrugged. "Hot chocolate please." She said after a moment of silence. Hot chocolate always managed to lift her mood, even if it was just a tiny bit.

As Molly went into the kitchen to prepare the hot drinks, the front door to the Burrow opened, and everyone piled in. Arthur headed into the kitchen, heartbreak clear on his face.

Callie sat next to Cassie. Unlike Cassie, Callie felt nothing. She felt like this was all just a horrible, bad dream that she couldn't get out of.

Rowan's cheeks were tear-stained. His eyes were red and puffy. He felt empty now that Fran was gone, he wasn't sure what he was supposed to do.

Aurora looked at her siblings. She was the oldest, they looked up to her. She had to be strong, just in case they needed someone to lean on.

Ginny, Ron and Hermione looked as if they had no idea what to say. They were glancing between each other, before they decided to just head straight upstairs.

Fred and George were standing by Aurora, both giving her a comforting glance, before they, too, decided to head upstairs.

That left the Smith children, and Harry.

Harry knew what it was like to lose a parent, he had lost them both. The difference was, Harry was a baby. He had no idea it was going to happen, at that moment, he had no clue what was going on. All he knew was that one minute there was a flash, his mum screamed, and she was on the floor.

Cassie, however, witnessed Fran's death before it happened. She could've, and tried to, change the outcome.

He had no idea how she was feeling. He had no idea how any of them were feeling. He could relate to a certain extent. However, they all grew up knowing their mother. He didn't.

So, he looked around at the siblings. "If any of you need anything," he said quietly, "you know where to find me, and the others."

Though he spoke to them all, his eyes were focussed on Cassie, and Cassie only. She gave him a thankful nod, and then Harry hurried off upstairs, leaving the Smith children to grieve surrounded by each other.

Molly entered the small living room with a bunch of warm drinks and placed them on the table. "Arthur and I will be in the kitchen if you need anything." She told them.

They all gave her a nod, and as Molly entered the kitchen, Callie had finally broke down.

One by one, all of the children crowded around her. They all hugged each other. After today, it was proven that things were taken for granted. Not everybody lived forever. From this moment on, they all had a silent agreement, that no matter what was happening, they were all putting each other first.
