AUTHOR'S POV

Hazel noticed his hesitation. He was fidgeting to hide the uneasiness. Hazel placed her hands on Paul's hands and squeezed them gently.

" You know you are so different from them...." she paused, looking into his green eyes.

" You are not like them. You are... warm...and uh.... gentle...and...a good human" She squeezed his hands again before retreating her hands.

Paul couldn't help but smile. This girl in front of him makes him smile way too much. She is too innocent. She thinks Paul is different from them. Does he also think the same? Is he really different from them?

" Nope...I'm not... I'm not entirely different from them...I don't like bullying people. I've tried to stop them, but you know AJ dislikes being told what to do and what not to do. So I've stopped telling them. I mind my business....that's it" he explained.

He was true. He wasn't entirely different from them. He was a playboy too. But the sex is always consensual. He didn't do it often. He is always against bullying or ragging. The only reason he stopped Alex when he was humiliating Hazel was because he had a certain respect for this girl. Besides, he likes her too.

" But you stopped Alex that day" She wasn't convinced by Paul's explanation about himself.

Paul nodded, curtly.

" He crossed the limits that day. It wasn't just bullying....he was humiliating you.... degrading your character......uh...I didn't like it! Alex acted like a jerk that day." he said, his lips pursed into a thin line. His palms balled into fists like he's trying to control his temper.

She looked at him and then heaved a sigh.

" He was not just acting like a jerk...HE IS A JERK!!! it seems like he doesn't like me. I don't know why.....I didn't do anything that would hurt him or anything like that...." she gave him a tight smile.

" They're a bunch of idiots who think hurting others is okay!" she concluded.

Paul chuckled.

" I should say... you gave him back in style. I enjoyed your tit-for-tat. It was a nice shot! Both of them deserved it" he chuckled again, this time Hazel also chuckled with him.

" I was about to cry....if you hadn't stopped him...I would have cried there...." she said, giving him a small smile.

Paul looked at her with concern-filled eyes.

"I wasn't expecting it....to be very honest, the one who was supposed to talk and own up for the mistakes..... didn't speak a word. But....you did. I...I appreciate that... Thanks..... Paul... Thank you so much" She squeezed his hands, looking at her feet and then at him.

" James...? " he looked at her, knitting his brows.

She didn't say anything.

" If you....um...don't mind....you can.... fine just leave it!" Paul shook his head, not wanting to push her.

Hazel smiled, He astonished her with his composure and understanding nature.

" hey no....you can ask me...." she assured him.

Paul looked at her for a brief moment and then,

" Did..he... hurt you..?" he asked in hesitation.
