Chapter-59

Author's POV

Crying bitterly, Hazel ran outside to find comfort. Her legs took her to the beach, the same beach that stood witness to her happy childhood.

Sitting on the shore, she sobbed for a while.

She didn't understand why Liam would say that. His anger and his actions were understandable. He loved her for many years. His feelings for her weren't days old. They have been friends for sixteen years now.

When Liam confessed his feelings to her for the first time, he was eighteen.

Liam was fourteen when he saw Hazel as his everything. Until then, it was pure friendship.

It's not that Liam didn't try, he tried. He tried to be that 'Friend' but he couldn't. Even if he tried to, he couldn't stop himself from falling for her. His feelings were too deep to get back.

He bottled up his emotions so that he didn't have to hurt her. But now...! It seems like he couldn't bottle it up anymore.

He knew it from the depth of his heart that Hazel would never accept his love. But still, he confessed again.

He wasn't actually angry with her. He was just sad at himself. Now, that he said it out loud, he was feeling a lot lighter actually.

Liam knew his words would definitely hurt her but he couldn't stop. He couldn't be her just friend. It was hard. Really hard.

Not that he decided to end their years of friendship. He wanted some time off alone. So that he can put things back on the track, sitting in his room, he replayed their heated conversation. He did see Hazel running out of her house. He knew she would be in their favourite spot. But he didn't go. He couldn't see her. Not after he said those hurtful words to her.

Paul on the other hand was unaware of their argument. He went out for a walk and by the time he returned Hazel was out of sight.

So he decided to check on her. He was sure she would be somewhere at the beach. So he made his way towards the beach.

Hazel had stopped crying now. She had tears in her eyes but they refused to get out. The gentle breeze turned chilly as time passed. She could feel the goosebumps rising all over her body as the chilly wind hit her skin.

She wrapped her hands around herself to get the warmth. It didn't help much. And then suddenly she felt the warmth.

She felt something dropping around her body and she looked at the leather material. She didn't have to look at the person to identify the black leather jacket.

A familiar scent hit her nostrils and she looked up. She was met with a pair of grey eyes looking at her intensely. They almost looked green because of the darkness.

James sat next to her and continued to look at her while her eyes diverted towards the beach.

James wanted to talk. He thought of sneaking in but then, decided against it. He knew she would not like it even a bit. He didn't want to upset her.

He simply decided to knock on her door and have a nice conversation with her like common people do. By the time he reached Hazel's place, Hazel was running out from there.

He knew she was hurt. He managed to look at her tear-stained face as she rushed out. He followed her silently. He couldn't help but feel bad for her. Her body shook from time to time as violent sobs erupted from her lips. He felt like a douchebag for making her cry many times. He concluded that he was a douchebag for breaking her heart.
