TW: Swearing
You had been living in the Addison Apartments for two weeks now, and today was your first day of school. You got up early, so that way you would have enough time to properly get ready. You didn't want to look bad on your first day.
"Bye Dad, I love you!" You said on your way out the door. "Bye, kiddo!" He replied.
When you left the apartments, you saw two other boys leaving, too. They both seemed to be about your age. The shorter one had blue pigtails, and was wearing red jeans and a black sweater. The most peculiar thing about him was his face, which was covered by a prosthetic. The taller boy had long, brown hair. He had a hooked nose and a freckle under his right eye. he was wearing navy jeans, and had a shirt of your favorite band, Sanity's Fall. You wanted to say hi, but didn't want to make things awkward. So instead, you walked behind them, praying they didn't notice you.
When you arrived at the school, you went to the office to get your schedule. Then, the first period bell rang. You tried looking for your class, but you were lost. The tardy bell rang, which signaled you were officially late. Shit. You continued looking for your class, when you saw a boy who seemed equally as lost.
"Wait, he looks kind of familiar..." You thought. Then, you realized it was the boy from the grocery store. You walked up to him to ask for directions, hoping he would know.
"Hey!" You exclaimed. "Do you know where room 101 is?" "Oh, I remember you! You helped me with my stuff at the grocery store the other day. And no, I don't know where that is. I'm looking for the same class." "Well wanna be lost together?" "Hell yeah."
After a few more minutes of searching, you found the classroom. It was math, so you knew you would dread it.
You and the boy sat next to each other, and you found out his name was Scotty. He was a lot better at math than you were, so it was helpful to have him there. Over the period you learned a lot about him. You learned simple things like his favorite color was red, he had a dog named Oliver, he had recently moved from California, and he hated English class.
Time Skip to Lunch
You forgot to ask Scotty to meet with him at lunch, so you had no one to sit with. You sat outside on a bench, and ate your lunch.
After awhile, you heard a feminine voice. "Hey, can I take your picture for yearbook?. You looked up to see a girl with long brown hair, a purple sweater, gray pants, and beautiful green eyes. "Oh, sure, go ahead." She asked you to pose in front of a tree that was next to the bench, and she took different pictures from different angles. "Thanks! You're a great model." She said. "Oh wait, you must be the new kid, right? My name is Ashley, but you can call me Ash! I can't sit with you today because I have to take pictures, but do you wanna sit with me and my friends tomorrow?". You didn't want to pass up the opportunity to make a few friends, so you agreed. "Hi Ash, I'm [Reader]! I'd love to, that sounds great." "Great! We sit in the cafeteria, the table next to the entrance. I'll wave you over." "Sounds good, I'll see you tomorrow.".
The rest of the day was bland, and not much had happened. You got the occasional weird stare or "Who are they?" in the hallway, but that was it.
At the end of the day, you walked back to the apartments, kicking a rock as you went. When you got back to your apartment, you set your bag down by the door.
"Hey, [Reader], how was school?" your dad asked. "Oh, it was good. I met a girl named Ash and she invited me to sit with her and her friends tomorrow at lunch." "I'm glad you're already making friends." "Mhm." You went back to your room and took a long deserved nap.
When you woke up, it was about 4:30 in the afternoon. You still had homework you needed to do, so you decided to do that. You put on your playlist and got to work. As you were doing your homework, you were thinking about how Ash's friends would like you. Ash seemed nice, but were her friends the same way?
When you finished your homework, you changed into some more comfortable clothes. Your dad still needed to go buy more food, so you skipped out on dinner. You lied down on your bed and stared at your ceiling. As exited as you were for things to be changing, you still missed New York. You missed your friends, and you missed your old apartment. You even missed the noisy tenants and the busy streets. But what you missed most of all was your mom. You missed her hugs and her voice. It hadn't even been a month since you moved and you already missed her so much.
You decided to go to sleep early, hoping that it would take your mind off New York. You got under the covers and fell fast asleep.
The next day at lunch, you walked into the cafeteria, looking for Ash. You saw her stand up and wave at you. "Hey [Reader], over here!" she said. You walked over to her and took a seat next to her, excited to meet her friends. As you looked at the people sitting at the same people, you realized that two of her friends were the boys that you saw walking to school in front of you. You waved and gave a sheepish smile. You weren't a shy person, but it was still awkward meeting them after trying to avoid them seeing you.
"Hey [Reader], I'm Sal!" the shorter one said. "And I'm Larry!" the taller one said. "Ash told us about you, and how you had no friends." "I didn't say that!" "Yes you did." You let out a chuckle at Larry and Ash's small banter. "Anyways [Reader], how are you enjoying Nockfell?" Ash asked. "Oh, it's nice. I met a boy named Scotty, and he seems pretty nice." "Oh, Scotty? I think I know who you're talking about. He's in the same study group that my mom forces me to go to. He's kind of a douche." Larry replied. "Oh, really? He doesn't seem like a douche. He actually seems pretty nice." "Dude I'm telling you, he's as douchey as they get. Well besides Travis of course." "Who's Travis?" you asked. "Oh, Travis is that blonde kid over at the table next to us. He bullies us all the time." Sal replied. "I'll keep that in mind." You could see how Travis would be a bully, but not Scotty. Scotty was the first person to show you kindness in Nockfell. Even if he was new, too, that still counted for something, right?
Author's Note
Hey guys, sorry for posting such short chapters. I promise they'll get longer and better as the story progresses. I also had an idea for a Sal x Reader I could write after I finish this story, but it would be a Sal x Male Reader. I'll make a suggestion post so you can make requests on there. I hope you enjoyed this chapter, even though it was short and kind of sucky, Byeeee! :D
