Second chapter: nets

Hanguang Jun and the lan disciples walked through the woods. They could hear clan leader Jiang and Jin Ling. Jin Ling was pointing his sword at a Xuanyu . His sword was stopped by Lan zhan.

"Second young master of Lan." Jiang Cheng said. "Clan Leader Jiang." the other lan clan members said and bowed. "You really live up to the idea of 'appearing amidst chaos' so you have some time to visit the rural forest today?" He said. "Are you here to take the credit from us?" He said stepping towards Hanguang jun. "or to look for someone?"

"I heard you and Lady lan have been to a lot of places in the last few years." He said. "Clan leader Jiang, what do you mean by that?" Jingyi asked.

"What do I mean? Second young master lan, you know what I mean" He said. "Young master Jin the night hunt is supposed to be a fair competition. However, you set so many nets in Dafan mountain that it makes others hardly able to proceed for fear of those nets. Aren't you breaking the rules of the night hunt? " Sizhui said.

"They got caught because they are stupid. What can I do about that?" Jin Ling said stepping forward. If there's nothing else, let's talk after I catch the prey." Jin Ling said.

Daiyu looked at Jin Ling. She didn't say anything. She didn't need to but she just averted her eyes to him. Jin Ling then started huffing to Jiang Cheng. Lan zhan turned his head slightly. Lady lan was on his right.

"Lady Lan!" Jiang Cheng said "What are you doing?" He said angrily. "You're definitely not the one who should discipline him. Lift it now!" Jiang Cheng said. "Clan Leader Jiang, please don't be angry." Sizhui said as he bowed.

Daiyu averted her eyes to Sizhui. "The silence spell of the Lan clan won't hurt people. The spell will be broken in a stick of incenses time if he doesn't force it to break." Sizhui said calmly. "Do it now!" He yelled.

Jiang Cheng was interrupted "Clan leader! Clan leader!" A cultivator yelled. "Just say it? What's the bad news now?" Jiang Cheng said. "The nets were destroyed by a glowing blue sword just now." He said. "How many of them?" Jiang Cheng asked.

"All of them" he said. Jin Ling huffed. "Over 400 spirit nets! Excellent work, Lan clan of Gusu." Jiang Cheng said. Jiang Cheng took a few deep breaths "Jin Ling, Lady Lan wants to teach you a lesson. Just take it. It's not easy for her to discipline a junior from another clan especially when she's a junior herself."

"Off you go" Jiang Cheng said as the cultivator left. "Why are you still standing there? Are you waiting for the prey to kill itself before you do?" Jiang Cheng said. "If you can't catch the monster today, don't come back to me." Jiang Cheng said harshly. Jin Ling bowed to both Jiang Cheng and Lan zhan before walking away.

"Clan leader Jiang, we, the Lan clan of Gusu will return the nets to you later." Sizhui said "No need" Jiang Cheng said as he walked away. "Get back to your positions. Try your best, but don't take risks." Lan Wanji said.

"Yes" all of them said. Daiyu could sense a presence. She didn't say anything. She walked with the rest of the lan clan members.

When everyone got into positions Daiyu sat down. She softly began to play her flute. She began to play a soft melody. Lan Sizhui listened as Jingyi turned to look at him. "It's the same thing someone was playing in Mo manor.." he whispered softly. Sizhui just nodded. Daiyu stopped playing. She took a few seconds to think. She didn't say anything and just held her sword tightly.

'They had heard this melody before?'

'It was taught to me by Lan zhan..'

'He said no one had ever heard it besides himself'.'

'And someone else...'

'Wei wuxian..?'

'It couldn't possibly be anyone else..'

'Definitely not'

'Or Maybe they weren't worth mentioning...'
