The Journey for Hate

"How much longer... till we get to the top of this DAMN MOUNTAIN!!" A raven haired boy yelled towards his white haired brother with heavy breaths.

XChara scowled at his brother before staring at the map in his hands again. They should have made it to the top of the mountain a while ago yet according to the map, they were still approximately a mile away.

They had started their little adventure to retrieve an anomaly that their boss had informed them of. The anomaly, dubbed HATE , was a private and important creature that only the brothers and Gaster know of. W.D. Gaster had caught wind that city officials were going to send a crew to retrieve anything found in the Underground.

Since W.D. didn't have time to go himself, he sent his two employees to go in his stead. And go in his stead they had. Considering that they had free time, they had gone ahead and went towards the mountain. Unfortunately, they were stupid and had chosen to go off road, believing it to be a faster way up the mountain.

"Can you SHUT UP!? I can't think with your annoying voice screaming in my ears!" XChara retorted at his brother with an annoyed tone.

"F*** NO! You said you knew a shortcut... AND WE STILL HAVEN'T MADE IT THERE YET!" Frisk screamed from the top of his lungs.

"YOU ACTUALLY THOUGHT I KNEW MY WAY AROUND?!!" XChara asked his brother incredulously, "THIS IS MY FIRST TIME AROUND THE MOUNTAIN, DUMB***!?"

"Why you-!"

"Um... excuse me?" The brother's quickly turned towards the source of the soft voice. "Would you two happen to be looking for the mountaintop?"

The boys looked at a girl who was watching them squabble, they then looked at each other before silently saying, "Y-yeah?"

The girl pointed at a sign to her left. "This path can take you there."

"O-oh, thank you, Missssss....????" Frisk's voice trailed off.

"Muffet." The now revealed Spider Lady responded.

XChara shrieked before jumping behind his younger brother. His fear of spiders, although not seen often, shone through at the moment. He never did get over his fear...

XFrisk stared at the lady in embarrassment at his brother's actions. "I am SO sorry about this idiot here." He raised his hand over his brother's head and slapped him at the back of it.

Muffet only giggled at the brothers's antics. "It's alright. I'm used to it by now. Not a lot of people expect to get help from a Spider the size of a human."

XFrisk smirked before asking, "Soooo what brings you to Mt. Ebott? I thought all monsters moved out?"

"Oh yes that's right! I returned to help the rest of my family move out." She raised her arms to present her army (spider family). XFrisk stared at the spiders while XChara's face morphed into one of horror.

He quickly jumped on his brother's shoulders and started hitting him on the head repeatedly. "Please please please please please please please please PUH-LEASE GET US OUT OF HERE!!!!"

"OW OW OW!! ALRIGHT ALRIGHT JUST KNOCK IT OFF ALREADY!" The brothers continued their path up Mt Ebott. "THANKS FOR THE HELP. SEE YA MUFFET!"

The Spider woman waved the boys goodbye.

The boys had finally reached the entrance to the Underground. XFrisk held out a scanner and XChara held out a radar. They looked around, searching for any remnants of HATE.

"Is it here? Nope." The boys searched under liftable rocks and even some houses,  but HATE couldn't be found. Their search seemed to lead nowhere until... they reached an open area. The area in which a showdown between Best Friends went down.

The scanner and radar sounds went haywire.

The boys panicked as they looked around for where HATE could possibly be. Behind them... a black gooey symbiote-like substance gathered. It leaped towards the boys, yet it never reached its target.

The reason being a white glowing sword. The sword, originally in XChara's backpack, had flown out of the bag and in between the boys and hate within a split second. It flashed a quick and dark purple before returning to its original color. The substance of HATE immediately fell to the ground, motionless for the time being.

The boys remained silent and continued their work as quickly and efficiently as possible. They didn't want to stay within the underground any longer, it simply felt too... suffocating. XFrisk went towards his bag and pulled out a magic resistant container. He grabbed a large spoon to scoop it in.

With HATE in confinement the boys quickly ran out of the Underground. Their mission successful, but XChara felt uncomfortable, the voice in the sword had yelled inexplainable words to him at that moment.

Its presence alone brought great discomfort. He still had no clue of its purpose, its use, its value, nor its power. Yet, something within his soul told him to value and keep the weapon.

Whatever it was, XChara trusted his instincts and held onto the blade.
