I turned off the treadmill as I proceeded towards the shower. I try to get up in the morning and follow a certain routine in my life; it makes me feel like I have control over everything. Control is a desired emotion; the more you have it, the more you crave it. I zipped up my boots as I heard my mother calling me downstairs for breakfast. As I walked towards the dining room, I saw my brother and father sitting and talking. I greeted my father and brother as my mom brought breakfast for all of us.

"How are the studies going, Sahiba?" My elder brother questioned

I took a deep breath before answering him.

"They are going fine, bhai," he hummed in response.

"Any trouble in college?" I paused before saying something to him. I don't think he knows anything that happened yesterday.

"No, bhai, everything is fine."

He nodded his head as Mom bought food for everyone.

"Sahiba, your grandmother was asking for you'. my mother spoke pouring avocado dressing on her salad.

A smile reaches my face upon hearing my old lady's name. My Nani is the coolest Nani in the world, as she knows it.

"Ma, I will visit her today"

she nodded her head as she proceeded to talk about a crazy client that she encountered yesterday.

I packed my bag while having conversations with my sister on the phone. Tara is a sweetheart. She is doing a master's in psychology as she aims to help people in her way, nobel cause, if you ask me. only if the back story wasn't so tragic. We are planning the sleepover that we are going to have at my grandma's house.

"I am so excited to meet you. It has been so long!" she exclaimed in an excited voice as I smiled at her happiness.

I bid my parents goodbye, which was just my mother waiting for me to leave so that she could leave for work. I decided that I would leave for college directly from Nani's house tomorrow.

she hugged me as I moved towards Kaka, who took my bag from me. My Nani lives on the outside of the city.

"I don't like this shor-sharaba of the city, Sahiba." She always mentions that she doesn't know how we live here.

"I will loosen my brain if I have to talk more about the brand of shoes I am wearing". she often jokes,

She is a simple woman. Don't get me wrong, she can be tough when she wants to, and she sure looks the part; from her white saree to her pearl earrings, everything screams elegance, but I never saw her that way. For me, She is my Nani, who always brought me chocolates and took me to parks.

nani's house is on the outskirts of the city. She lives in a big house, more like a mansion, which she and my Nanu built together. I have a few memories of him. I was too young when he died, but Nani talks about him with the utmost love and care,as if he is always with her, and maybe he is.

"How did you know he was the one, Nani?" I would always ask her, and she would gently pat my head.

"I will tell you when the time is right. Right now, you are too young to understand it, Sahiba."

Kaka parked the car alongside the driveway as I hurriedly ran towards Nani, who was waiting for me at the door. I hugged her as she patted my head gently.

"Welcome, my love. I missed you so much."

I missed you too, Nani," I said, breaking the hug as my sister ran towards me.

"Oh, my favorite cousin is here," I spoke as she poked her tongue at me

We walked inside the house as Nani told us both to get ready and come down for dinner. The rest of the day passed by Tara complaining about her professor and how inhumanly he makes them work, while Nani offered to visit her college and that damn professor and put some sense into him. Tara was scared about this offer, as I convinced Nani that it would be a bad idea as the teacher would get offended and give her extra work.

After having a marathon of Christian Bale movies, Tara and I were sleeping when my phone decided to disturb my sleep. I grogily picked it up, pissed at who was calling in the middle of the night.

"hello?"

" sahiba"

One word, and the sleep vanished from my eyes. I hastily sat on my bed, listening to the voice that could bring me back to life even if I were dead.

"kabir?"

"Come downstairs," he said, speaking as if his one command and I would follow it.

'What happened? Are you fine?" I asked, looking at the clock on the nightstand.

"I am waiting downstairs; come fast." That's all I got in response.

"I am not home, Kabir."

"Mujhe pata hai sahiba, ab jaldi niche ayo."

With that, he cut the call. I tried to look out the window when I saw him leaning on his car in front of the gate. I hurriedly wore my jacket as the weather was a little chilly outside. I tried to exit the house without making a sound. Nani will kill me if she knows about him. I gently closed the door as I ran towards his car.

He gave me his rarest, breathtaking smiles when I reached him.

"What are you doing here in the middle of the night?" I asked him, observing the bandages on his hand, they must be from the fight yesterday.

"I missed you, Sahiba," he said, coming closer to me.

He held my small hands in his big ones as I looked at the bandages on his hand.

"Does it still hurt?" I asked as I gently touched his hand so as not to hurt him.

"I would do it again if I had to," he said, never wavering his eyes away from me.

"Was it again him?" I asked, looking into his honey-colored eyes and observing as they turned dark. The more my question lingered in the air,.

"That's not something you should concern yourself with. I have handled the situation, and as long as I am here, you don't have to worry about it."

pulled myself away from him and stood at a distance to clear my mind.

"So what do I owe this visit to, Mr. Raichand?" He smirked at my stance as he leaned back on his car.

"I thought we could go get some ice cream."

"You came here in the middle of the night to offer me ice cream," I asked, bewildered as he shrugged nonchalantly.

The idea was not bad, especially the ice cream part, but if anyone got to know about it, I would be dead meat. especially if they knew it was him.

"Don't think too much; it's not like it's the first time you've had an ice cream craving in the middle of the night."

"Fine!" I agreed as he grinned and opened the door for me.

I Hope Nani doesn't get to know about it.
