Why? Just why? Okay, can I explain a few things? For one, Artemis is a MAIDEN GODDESS. Maiden. According to dictionary.com:
noun
1.a girl or young unmarried woman
UNMARRIED.
And also, Artemis DOES NOT have kids. She vowed not to.
Also, Artemis has her hunters. She hates men so much that she even will start a group of young girls who will swear off boys forever to keep her company. If Artemis's daughter is 15/16 during a story and she is friends with Thalia-
Right. Let me stop there. THALIA DOES NOT HAVE MORTAL FRIENDS. Thalia doesn't go to random mortal towns to make friends. In multiple fanfictions that I have read a daughter of Artemis has been Thalia's friend BEFORE either of them knew that she was a daughter of Artemis. Therefore, these friendships are entirely unrealsistic and implausible.
Sorry. Getting back to just being a child of Artemis. If Artemis's daughter is 15/16 during a story and she is friends with Thalia and while at camp characters from PJO and HoO are still teenagers, this must be somewhere near the time Thalia became a huntress, maybe two years later. At the time that Artemis was making Thalia a huntress, she was definitly still recruiting and disliked men. There is also, in The Lost Hero, a scene when Thalia asks Piper to swear off boys and join the huntresses. If Thalia is recruiting, Artemis must want her to. So it isn't like Thalia was some kind of 'Oh I just really need you I know that I kind of already like boys but whatever' thing. Artemis had always been actively interested in her hunters, and in swearing off boys. Shouldn't Artemis then have some kind of second thoughts about getting pregnant with some mortal's child? Especially since these daughters of Artemis usually HAVE A DRUNK FATHER. Wouldn't Artemis be, if she did break her oath, careful about getting a good guy? Anyway, Artemis's huntresses would all have problems with Artemis's child. Artemis herself would try to distance herself from the huntresses she so famously makes swear not to do anything with boys if she had a demigod child. So just the fact that Artemis is close with her huntresses in the books, worrying about them in BoO when she is stuck on Delos with Apollo, is proof that she does not have any children.
And about the plot lines of these stories, Artemis's daughters often meet Thalia somewhere in the mortal world and become friends IN THE MIDDLE OF A WAR. Shouldn't Thalia be doing something more important during these difficult times? Such as, maybe, helping the other huntresses since she IS THE FRICKING LEIUTENANT. Thalia is actively ditching the war by becoming friends and hanging out with people she think are MORTALS.
Also, the children of Artemis are naturally amazing at EVERYTHING, sometimes because other gods think Artemis's child was a goddess and so blessed her with everything. *insert eye roll here.* Even if this didn't happen, the girl is still WAY to talented in to many areas and does something that wins the war. Like, how many thousands of people are there going to be who WIN EVERYTHING? Why not make your OC someone who ISN'T in the spotlight all of the time? Wouldn't it be nice if for ONCE it was someone who had to have a friend get all the glory?
