The Maze Trials

First Night

Newt and I spent all day in the Map Room, Alby would come check on us every so often and we would stop talking whenever we heard him then we would continue when he left. He made me less nervous being the only girl there. I know he is being friendly so I will trust him but I cant just trust someone I just met.

By the time nightfall hit and the doors closed i wasnt even half way done from how much talking newt and I did. Newt walked me outside so he could join the party going on outside.

Alby walked over to us handing both of us a drink "My friends! Drink have a good time"

What did he just hand me? Is he drunk? 

"Hey how strong are you Maddison?"

"You can call me Maddy. Im decently strong" I said nervously 

"Gally is looking for someone to fight if youre interested"

Newt laughed a little "I think shes fine Alby were just going to go sit by the fire"

I nodded towards him walking to the fire with newt seeing someone sitting there already. Newt sat next to him and i sat next to newt just looking at my drink unsure if i should drink it.

" I heard you learned your name Greenie" Newt said chearing him 

The man held his hand out shaking newts "Thomas" he then leaned up looking at me "Thomas"

I just looked at him for a moment. I know this man, I remember seeing this man when i was in this tube filled with some type of liquid as i screamed for him to let me out. Hes with W.I.C.K.E.D. Why is he here, why am  i stuck here with him.

"Maddison"

"Nice to meet you Maddy"

"Maddison" I corrected him 

Newt looked at me confused for a second then looked back at Thomas as I got up leaving my drink next to newt walking over to this group surrounding Gally watching him fight. 

"What are the rules?" i asked a random guy

"Anything goes just dont get thrown out of the circle"

I nodded "I can do that" I said to myself watching the guy get thrown out of the circle making everyone yell in excitement.

"Who wants to try me next" Gally yelled 

I took a deep breath stepping into the circle "Let me try"

"A girl? You want to try me? Ill go easy on you" he laughed getting ready 

"I wont go easy on you" i said 

"Youre feisty. Ladys first"

"Then why am i standing here waiting on you"

Gally looked at me getting impatient suddenly taking the first attack charging at me swinging but i backed up grabbing his arm taking his legs out from under him sending him to the ground. After hitting the ground he got up kicking my side making me fall to the ground. 

"Gally dont" I heard Newt yell towards him

Laying on the ground a idea hit me, fake it make him think im easy.

I groaned loudly to get his attention and when he towered over me he leanded down to grab me but i grabbed his wrists turning myself putting my feet on his chest kicking him out of the circle. Getting up i just looked at Gally who is laying outside the circle while everyone stayed silent a moment before Alby broke the silence.

"The new champion Maddison!" he cheered making everyone else cheer

Alby grabbed my shoulder whispering "He is going to hate you till the end of time, what made you do it?"

I laughed a little " Anger took over" I whispered 

"Anger over what?"  

"Dont worry about it. Where can i lay down i need to be up early to finish the maze"

"Unfortunately we dont have anywhere outside you can crash in the Map Room" 

I didnt say anything walking to the Map Room to be alone to think. Why is he here? Does he remember and hes faking it. I dont get it.

I paced the room my mind running what felt like a million miles an hour. Till I heard someone else walk in.

"Are you okay?" Newt asked 

I stopped looking at him, he cant know I know. What do I say?

"Yeah im okay"

The silence between us was deafening.

"I know somethings wrong"

"You dont know that"

"I saw it when you met Thomas. He cant call you Maddy but we can. What happen"

"Nothing happen" I smiled "Nothing happen I never said that anyone can call me Maddy, I dont know what that is youve been drinking but i think you might have had too much"

Newt looked at me a minute "So what are you doing then"

Think Maddison think

"I am sleeping in here but im going to work on the Maze a little before i go to sleep to calm my nerves"

"Then I should sit with you and keep you company" he smiled to me sitting back down in the seat he was in before

"Yeah thats fine.Really dont want to keep you from the party though"

"Youre not"

He knows. I know he knows.

"So it looks like youll be here a week then, do you have an idea on what any of this means?"

I sighed looking at him " I have no idea. I wish i did, maybe this all could be coming to an end for us soon since now there more people working together" I looked at the model Maze knowing there isnt a way out that wont invole death

Starting to work on the Maze then I heard Newt get out of his chair pacing "You know what i just realized"

"What would that be?"

"You called Logan just cute"

I nodded "I did, what does that have to do with anything i just said?"

"It doesnt. You like Logan dont you"

I laughed a little "God no i can barely stand her as a person i couldnt think of her as anything other than a person i care for"

"So who is she"

"She is a person at my camp Newt what do you want me to say? Shes 17 and annoying, thats all she is, she stays inside and cooks and at that shes not even good at it but its a job i know she can do"

"Not well"

I laughed covering my mouth 

"I mean hey you said it not me"

"Okay I did but thats not the point, the point is i dont like her"

"So you like men"

I looked at him a minute 

"Im just asking cause I know a couple guys here like guys and I was just wondering if you likes, girls."

"There are a couple girls back at camp that I find cute and there are a couple guys here that I find cute. Why are you asking?"

"Just making conversation till you tell me what that was all about out there"

"It was nothing Newt"
