Chapter 9

Avoura's POV

I'm sitting in class right now, taking notes. Honestly, I have no idea what's going on, I can't think. I can't just take my mind off what happened in the past few days.

I know I never planned or wanted to date anyone when I went to college. My only intention was to study, maybe get a job. Love was never on the table.

Why does it have to be Axel?? The most annoying guy to ever exist?? I-

"Miss Grey! Are you even listening?" Mr Calvin snapped.

"Huh, what?"

"I asked you a question. What on earth are you busy daydreaming about?"

"Oh, uhm, sorry, Sir. I just had some trouble focusing," I said.

"Are you okay? These past few days, it seems like you're not paying as much attention, what's wrong?" he asked, concerned.

"I promise you I'm alright. I'm just having a lot on my mind right now, Sir," I told him.

"Alright then, if you say so," he replied, before he continued to teach again.

Viola's POV

I have no intention to listen to the teacher right now. I mean, how could I? I have Axel, my crush (I think?) who is starting to like me, but there's also Ben, who I'd love to get to know more.

But I feel bad about probably having to dump Axel right when we're starting to actually get along. I mean, I like him fine, but... I don't know.

After classes are over...

I saw Axel talking with his friends. Should I just do it?

I walked over there.

"Hey!" I called him.

"Hi, babe!" he replied as he put his arm around my shoulder. Oh, boy.

"Can I talk to you in private?" I asked.

"Oh, sure," he said.

We went to the college garden.

"Listen, I need to tell you something," I said as we sat down on the bench.

"What's up?"

"So.. this is really weird but somehow I switched bodies with my friend, Avoura, you know her. Don't ask why or how 'cause I have no idea myself. That was a few days before our date and we couldn't switch back in time for it so she had to replace me and went on the date with you," I started. His eyes widened as I said the last part.

"It seems like you had a really good time and she did, too. It looked like you had more fun with her than you usually have with me. Of course, I was sad at first but then, I met this other guy. He's really sweet and nice. And.. I think I like him," I told him.

"So, yesterday.. I was with Avoura? Not you?" he asked, still in disbelief.

"Yes. And don't worry, we switched back yesterday after she got home from your date, so you're definitely speaking with Viola right now,"

"Well.. good for you. I'm glad you found this other guy. Because I think I want to get to know Avoura more, I mean I know I was never fond of her before but I really liked spending time with her yesterday" he said with a smile.

Whew, at least he's not upset.

We ended the conversation and he left. Next thing I knew, the girls were walking towards me.

"Hey, what are you doing here?" Akira asked.

"Yeah, we were looking for you," Avoura said.

"Oh, nothing. I just told Axel about the switching and how you were the one who went on the date instead of me," I told them.

"Really? What did he say?" Gaby asked, curious.

"He said that he wants to get to know you more, Avoura," I told her. "Look who's getting a boyfriend now," I teased her as I looked at her face full of disbelief.

Avoura's POV

What. Did. You. Say.

Axel's interested in me? Since when? I thought he hated my guts. I thought he liked Viola.

"What?! I mean.. that could mean nothing," I said.

"True.. but what about you? Do you like him?" Viola asked me.

I was stumped. I did enjoy his company, but do I like him? No... maybe?

"Well... hey, it's getting late, we should get back to our apartment," I made an excuse.

"It's barely been 5 minutes, but alright," Akira said.

Meanwhile...

Candice's POV - behind the bushes

"He said that he wants to get to know you more, Avoura,"

So Axel likes someone else, huh? That bitch.. I knew she was trouble. But how did that even happen, I thought the two hated each other.

Whatever, switching their bodies was a complete waste of time! I took all that time and effort for nothing.

Flashback to the day before Avoura and Viola switched bodies...

"Our drinks are here!" Gaby said, excitedly.

"Finally! I'm parched," Avoura said.

"I know right, what took so long?" Viola added.

The four of them started sipping on the drinks they ordered.

"Those idiots.. They'll never know I put a body swap potion in Viola and Avoura's drinks. Then Axel will notice the change in Viola and he won't like her anymore. Then Axel will be all.. mine," I said my master plan while hiding behind the restaurant counter. I'm surprised no one's seen me.

Back to the present time

"It went the exact opposite of what I was expecting,"

Looks like I'll have to try something else...
