"So you're saying that the gods have been at war with the demons since the beginning of time and that it's never ended? That they've left real divine beasts in this world, Qilin to be precise, to protect the Four Pillars or the Four Gates of Heaven? That what we know as blood zombies are nothing more than demons, and those giant worms are as well? That the Wu family somehow got involved along with some members of the Nine Mystics? That Tianzhen had a Qilin spirit and that Zhang Qiling is half of one? What's more, more demons are approaching right now, and we have no choice but to resist and fight, right? Wang Meng, I think we really die along the way and enter the gates of hell, because otherwise none of this would make sense." Pangzi even went so far as to pinch himself, as this was all a product of a very vivid dream. Wu Xie took the opportunity to smack him in the back of the head, causing Pangzi to cry out in pain dramatically.
"Tianzhen! What was that for?" Pangzi complained, and Wu Xie sneered.
"Does that seem real enough to you, now? Yes, it seems like something out of a fantasy story, but unfortunately, it is very real. Believe it or not, at this point it doesn't matter. The demons will come in waves, and since we're all trapped down here, we either fight or die at the hands of bloody zombies. Take your pick." Faced with this new, more confident Wu Xie, Pangzi looked at him in surprise.
"How did you become so heartless in such a short time? Third Master, did you hit him over the head and drive him crazy?" Pangzi asked, and Wu San Xing snorted.
"I may as well do so now. He was stubborn since childhood, but after getting involved in this old war, he became a complete idiot. He's foolish enough to believe this war will end just because he's involved in it," Wu San Xing complained.
"Ha! That's rich coming from you! Both you and my grandfather were young when you got involved in this war, and yet you thought it was fine to do so, with nothing but your own talents to protect yourselves. I was born with a supernatural talent that could turn others to ashes, and you denied me that knowledge! You treated me like a delicate child who couldn't even be left unsupervised! You lied to me my whole life!" Wu Xie pointed at his uncle angrily.
"It was all for your own good! Your grandfather went to great lengths to hide the fact that you were touched by a Qilin spirit since birth, and rightfully so. If your true nature were known outside our family, what do you think would happen? I assure you, you would not only attract our family's enemies, but demons of all kinds, who would try to kill you as well! You silly brat, you ruined all your grandfather's hard work!"
"I did?! You hid such a crucial fact from me! Did you ever think, that if I was touched by a Qilin spirit, it meant I was destined for something no human can stop? Since when does our family have the power to defy fate and rewrite the will of the gods? What you did wasn't protection; it was sheer folly. Instead of concealing what I needed to know, you should have told me everything and prepared me for what the future held. Perhaps you thought keeping me out of this war was for my own good, but you only made things worse, forcing me to walk blindly toward something I wasn't ready to face. If it weren't for Xiaoge's protection, I would have been kill!" Wu Xie vented his anger against his own family.
From childhood, he had admired his grandfather; he saw his third uncle as a role model, someone he wanted to emulate, an extension of his grandfather. However, now that he knew the truth about himself and how it had been stolen from him, he felt betrayed.
"Wu Xie! Don't cross the line, or I'll forget I'm your uncle and give you a good beating..." his third uncle warned him, but just in time to prevent the tension from escalating more, someone else showed up.
"Does telling the truth justify hitting such a beloved member of the family? Wu San Xing, you're getting too full of yourself." The speaker was none other than Xiao Hua, and Wu Xie smiled at him, pleased to see him return from his conversation with Xiazi.
