BASEMENT.

Liming woke up from his alarm, his eyes are so puffed, fresh because of what happened last night.

He walked downstairs and as expected, his mom is not home. He prepared two buttered toast, he ate it, took a shower, and then headed to school.

And as usual he then went to the library to unwind. Picking the novels or books that he had already read, so what, right? He loves it, and it's worth reading again.

He left library afterwards and Por noticed him, Por thinks something's going on, because Liming is looking down all this time, wearing earphones, and seemed like he's been carrying a heavy rock in his back, his puffed eyes are still visible as well.

Por still approached him and bumped him anyways.

"Hey Li!" as Por rests his arms on Liming's shoulder, making Liming to startle a little.

Though Liming is feeling so down today, Por just lights up his mood every time, whatever situation it is. Soulmates.

"Oh– hi Por, what's up?" He asked.

"Nothing, I just feel like you're not a little joyful as you usually are." He chuckled. "I know this ain't you Liming Loetphong, so tell me, is there any problem?" He asked in a little concerned tone.

"No, I'm totally fine Por." He chuckled nervously.
But Por just left him a pouty face, knowing that Liming is hiding something from him.

Liming is not that comfortable talking about his private life, maybe because it's too sensitive or too special for him. He thinks It's better to keep it for himself, but who knows? maybe Por can change his mind.

"Ahh I see, if you don't want to tell me, fine it's alright, I will not force you." Por sulks.

"I'm sorry Por, I'm– I just- it's hard to tell someone something that's too personal for you." I replied.

"Don't worry I understand what you feel, Li." He then tapped my shoulder.

"but how come you're like that when you told me it's better to tell someone your problems to lessen the weight you've been carrying hm?" Por said still a little sulky. But Liming still seems unpredictable.

"And hey! I'm your friend here your secrets are safe with me!" He added.

"I think it's situational."

Por just chuckled "reasons." He teases.

"whatever you say Li, anyways do you want some ice cream? let's buy some! so that your bitter life will be sweet at least." He teases, and they both laughed.

"How 'bout a salad?" I insist.

"Enough with the greens! it's making me sick." Por is not a fan of vegetables sadly.

"C'mon you haven't even tried it once." I replied, laughing, and completely teasing him.

"Ice cream Ice cream!" screams the vendor while ringing the bell.

"Anyways— look! I can already hear and smell the ice cream from afar, let's go!" as he grabbed my fists, and went straight to the ice cream vendor.

"Two vanillas please." Por requested.

"Alright, Two vanillas coming right in!" Said the vendor.

"How come you knew I love vanilla?"  I asked.

"Bestfriend instincts." Por winked. they both laughed, and continued to spend the time together once again by trying out more street foods.

...

After class, he went straight home like usual, that's life for Liming; home, school, home then school again, always in a loop, a bit boring isn't it?

Whenever he came home early, he always goes to another place, maybe a third home for him as-well, it's somewhere around their house, not in the roof, but under, it's a basement.

He actually have this basement where he puts his borrowed books, to read, he even have board games.

We all know he loves reading, and he actually loves playing board games too, chess specifically. He's a good player honestly, but he can't play with it— well, he doesn't have any mate to play with though.

He sometimes sleeps in their basement whenever he doesn't feel peace in his own room, and for him, today feels like it.

His basement room feels more cozy, having a soft little bean bag; that's where he sleeps, with a huge light blue feather rug under it, a mini table, a shelf made by him, and a small lamp; just perfect to light up the whole basement.

Liming went straight to their basement, with full books in his hand, hugging it, and placing it to his little table, he actually reads for about 3 hours everyday— you can't blame him if the book is good.

A few hours passed, and after reading tons, he felt very tired and sleepy, not knowing he already fell asleep in his table.

...

LIMING

"Hey Ming, why don't we play some board games? or uhm.. I meant which do you prefer- reading books or play board games instead?"

"board games! board games!" he said cheerly, jumping.

"Oh- HAHAHA! alright young man, let's play some board games." he tickled the younger, and both laughed.

"Wanna know how to play chess? Dad can teach you." He said while creasing his head

"Yes Pa, please." He begs.

A phone suddenly rings

"Oh- just a minute little guy, I'm just going to answer that." He said while heading outside the door. He noticed that there's a very heavy thunder outside.

"No Pa! Don't leave me!"

*

"Father... father don't leave me..." He whimpered. "No..."

Liming was startled out of sleep because of his dream, and he then suddenly noticed a vibration in his table.

He saw a pager phone.

He rubbed his eyes, unable to believe what he was seeing.

Wait... is it really a pager phone?

"Since when did I brought a pager phone here?" He feels so confused.

He looked at it, trying to find the reason of its vibration, then he saw numbers, and it stated:

"07734"
