I shuffle under the sheets as the sun rises and shines it's morning rays of light onto my skin. The windows are cold and a little foggy from the rain during the night. I rise out of bed and the stone tiles are cold underneath my feet. Everything seems calm, almost peaceful. Then I remember today is the day me and könig depart for our paired mission.

"Shit.." I curse as reality comes fading back to me. I wasn't fond of könig, and he was definitely not fond of me. I never understood his jealously of me. We were acquaintances at first, almost friends, but I started to get invited to more places then he did by my colleagues. More parties, more bars, hangouts... I never understood why he put me at fault for that. I did feel a little bad for him, he barely spoke, and when he did no one listened to him. I shake the thoughts out of my head.

"No, I refuse to feel bad for him." I order myself. For a moment, I bask in the sun shining through the cold windows. The air is almost crisp. I walk over to my dresser and start to change my into my gear. I eventually got used to how heavy it was over the months, but it was still a pain to wear it. I slipped my bulletproof vest on and slipped on my holster and the rest of my heavy gear. Then I take out my gun and make sure the safety is on and slide it into the holster. I walk out of my assigned sleeping quarters and my heavy military boots clunk on the floor and echo through the empty hall.

2 hours later it's time for me to leave on my mission with könig. I watch as he walks out of his room and into the hall. He's 6'10 which around a foot taller than me. His gun is strapped around his body and his clothes are tight around him. He's definitely bigger than the largest size clothing they had. The commander for the mission is down the hall waiting to send us off.

My gaze flickers over to konig as he walks out. I can't help but look at him for a bit longer than I'd admit. I used to have feelings for him but I never told konig. He steps forwards and pauses at my side. He practically towers over me.

"As you know, I've paired you both on this mission. Before I send you off we're going to go over the purpose of this mission one more time." I try and pay attention to the commander, but it's hard when I can feel königs glare on me. I can feel it burn a hole through my brain. I shift my weight from side to side and cross my arms.

"It has recently come to our attention the enemy has made plans of constructing a bomb that they will use to defeat us. We have reliable Intel that they hold the blueprints to this bomb inside their base in a locked chest. You two are to get ahold of this blueprint and bring it back to us." I nod my head to the commanders words. I can still feel königs burning gaze on me.

"I would prefer it if you both came back alive, got it?"

"Yes, sir." Me and konig say simultaneously. We both look at each other and look away. I fidget with my hands and look at the ground. I can already tell this is going to be a long ride.

The tension was thick in the car. It was a 2 hour drive to the cabin we were supposed to do our mission in. König sat on the opposite side of where I was, which I expected. I didn't want to sit near him either. I catched a quick glance at könig. His legs were slightly spread and he was looking out the window.

I placed my elbow on the window of the car and rested my head against my hand which my elbow propped up. The scenery was beautiful. It was 7am, still early in the morning. The sun shined on the glossy snow that was slightly melting as time passed and the sun shined brighter. We drove past what must've been hundreds of tall lanky trees. The branches were sprawled like limbs and there were barely any leaves to be found. The heat was turned on in the car which made it quite toasty. I leaned against the cold glass and drifted off to sleep.

When I woke up we had arrived. The door on my side of the car was open and könig was standing there shaking my arm. His hand felt warm on my skin, I could feed the calluses underneath his fingertips.

"Y/N.." his voice sounded almost dream like and faded.
"Y/N!" He repeated. His voice sounded more clear this time. I slowly opened my eyes and adjusted myself. I took off my seatbelt and rubbed my eyes.

"We're here?"

I asked. König looked a little irritated, but I could hardly tell because of his mask. His arms were crossed and his weight shifted to his left side.

"Yeah. We have to grab our luggage."

His voice was monotone. I hopped out of the car and shut the door. Sergeant opened the trunk and started putting our suitcases onto the slowly melting snow.

"Okay, remember what you're here for. No distractions." His eyes shifted between both of us, obviously implying something.

I tried my best not to look over at könig because that would make the situation even more awkward. I rubbed my arm with my gloved hand as the commander said his goodbyes and drove off.

König stared up at the purple and blue sky as he took a deep breath. I started grabbing suitcases. König followed suit and grabbed the rest. We eventually got all our stuff to the cabin and I opened the door, könig lingered behind me. The cabin was a little smaller than expected. There was a kitchen planted in the middle of the room like an open plan. There was counters surrounding the kitchen and a round table with two chair just outside of it. The entire cabin was made of wood which was an obvious fire hazard. Besides the kitchen there was only two doors, one leading to the bedroom and another leading to what I could only assume would be a back porch. König walked in front of me and took his suitcases to the bedroom. I walked around the cabin searching for the second bedroom. Eventually, I came to the realization that there may not be one. Shit, I'd have to share a room with the Lord of douchebags.

"König!"

I called out for him and walked to what seemed to be the only bedroom. König was kneeled down in front of the dresser as he neatly folded his clothes. It was a bit funny to see such a huge burly man try to faintly fold his clothes.

"There isn't a second bedroom." König stopped in his tracks and looked back at me.

"What? That's impossible."

He fast walked around the house desperately searching for a second bedroom. He kept going back to the same rooms. Obviously this was going nowhere.

"König, if you check the same rooms over and over a bedroom isn't going to magically appear."

I picked up my stuff and started to put them in the only bedroom. One me and him would have to share. I didn't like the idea of sharing my personal space with him, but I had no other options. There wasn't even a couch.

"Hey.. what do you think you're doing?"

"I'm unpacking, what does it look like." I snapped back at him.

"I don't have time for your sass."

I rolled my eyes.

"We both can't sleep here. There's only one bed." He protested.

"Cool, you can take the floor then."

"Scheiße, nein." (Fuck, no.) He said. He had a tendency to use his mother tongue whenever he felt strongly about something.

"Well I'm sure as hell not taking the floor." I replied.

The argument turned into a silent staring contest, who would break first. He crossed his arms and stood up straight, I copied his mannerisms.

"I'm not sleeping on it either." He said sternly.
